Likewise. I thought he was a couple of years older than that for sure but that’s good to hear.
Personally, I’m not sure we can afford to carry him through the midfield unless his disposal improves. Especially with Heppell & McGrath to come back in.
His pressure and ability to cover the ground is excellent but for a slow midget who can’t kick it more than 25m, he shanks an awful lot of handballs. And I’m not quite sure where that leaves him.
All of that said, I’m backing him into improve again next year given his attitude and professionalism.
EDIT: Turns out I was right re him being a couple of years older. Definitely worth keeping around for another year but I hope we move past him unless he seriously improves on his disposal.

I like him as a player, but part of the handball pandemic this club has. Needs to kick more and he’ll be damaging. The tackling part is fine.

When only 5 of your 15 possessions are contested, you’d like to think that you’d be kicking it more often than that (or at least hitting more targets by hand).
I’d keep him, he’s a meatball and plays tough. He isn’t for long term but he could be quite serviceable for the next few years.

I think that’s unfair on Snelling personally.
It could well be.
And I certainly wouldn’t be upset if he was there next year. I just think if we aim to improve to any useful degree, we need to be better than Snelling.

At the very least he is really handy depth.
He might not be perfectly skilled, but he always tries his guts out and brings intensity every game he plays. Something very few of our players do.

Anyone who’s ■■■■■■ off with the way we’re playing but reckons Snelling is part of a best 22 is a hypocrite. He’s exactly the type of player we need to stop picking.

If guys who got payed a lot more than Snelling, such as Shiel, Daniher, Stringer, etc. showed half the application as him, we would be winning finals.

Agreed. He deserves another year. But if he’s in the 22 for all of 2021 like he has been this year we are in deep ■■■■.

A limited player but gives his all and does his job. He wouldn’t be best 22 for any top 4 side but would make a good depth player. I’d keep him on the list. Wasn’t he originally a small forward? Could be good depth for forward line as well
