If the exodus is coming, then he almost stays just to fill list numbers if nothing else. Then if he has a bad year 2021 then he’s a prime candidate for delisting. I think he’s a little better than that, but you are right, the midfield balance is out of whack right now with too many smaller types.
Got to say that Snelling is super underated.
If you look back at that Mid season draft the only guys that stand out are Noble, Pickett(overrated) and snelling.
My first thought is no. I haven’t seen enough to suggest he could. He’s not great overhead, so I’d be worried about him being dragged deep and giving away frees in a marking contest, and being up against players that are taller and superior in the air to him. Mind you, Caleb Daniel has carved a fair niche for himself as a defender, but his is down to his exquisite ball use and the Dogs have other defenders to do the actual defending. But who knows?
Caleb Daniel is a distributing half back. I was more thinking of someone to sit on a small forward. It’s about all I can think of to do with him. A larger midfielder or two and he’s redundant there, so I’m just considering possibilities.
To be fair, he is that close to the ground to start with so it’s not entirely his fault.
I’d take a handball to the ground every day of the week over handballing behind the running player straight to the opposition, which 50% of our team are ELITE at.
I think a lot of that comes down to the movement in front of him not being there. The amount of time you see our midfielders or HBF look up and all there teammates are just standing there wanting the ball kicked to them, instead of leading at them-ss frustrating to say the least
That’s why a guy like Stanton was so good, he would work his tail off to make space for either himself or a teammate to run into to give the kicker an option
Hmm,probably get towelled by the super quick forward pockets. But you could see him being very effective at blanketing any of the slower, nuggety smalls.
He was drafted mid year last year, competed better than most and cemented himself in the best 22 and is regularly one of our best runners in an unfit team, and finsihed inside the top 10 for the best and fairest. He’s still quite young and has some good up scope improvement in him. Undoubtedly has a lot to work on, including trying to be too cute with his disposals and handballing too often, but there is something to work with.
at around 3:46 you can see just how valuable of a player he is.
side note: i actually feel that these guys managed to pick a better AA side just off stats compared to the ■■■■■ the committee voted on.
