Former #42 Massimo D'Ambrosio

We did have some good midfield depth developing, they are all now playing in the senior forward line

Steven Morris calling him a good human being is like Cambpell Brown saying he likes the cut of his jib

How dare you, all this place does is complain about the lack of indigenous talent we have.

We had the enviable position of having pick 3 in the MSD draft. The draft has shown in 3 years it is not brimming with talent. Given we have access at the top end of a possibly thin talent pool, you don’t factor in needs and you take the best talent you can get. If we thought this guy would have been a pick 35/40 (say) in this year’s ND in a universe where there’s no MSD, you take him, and take the 4 months to work out how to turn him into a player. If we thought he was just a better overall player than Carmichael or any others around that mark, I’m happy we took him, and don’t care that we have Hind and Redman playing HBF with Lord the heir apparent.

Freo’s pick has a pretty good highlight reel:

After hearing all this talk on the Rish and Rath podcast about players driving Mercedes & Teslas, I really hope Massimo does us proud by rocking up to training in a VL Calais Turbo; as is tradition for anyone with that name.

A powerful rebounding defender who can also play across the wing and forward line, McDonagh shines with his lethal kicking, decision-making and composure.

From the write ups on him, this Carmichael bloke sounds like he’d be a monty for pick 1 in the National draft - in the real world he’s gone pick 9 in the MSD.
Large grain of salt required with some of these writeups.

We had to play Wanganeen, Tippa & Hird as midfielders, because we had no one.

Other than Caldwell, Perkins & Hobbs…. There is nobody else other than our starting midfield group.

Ideally you want to have a couple of guys learning the midfield craft in the VFL.

Don’t worry it’s Steve Morris- hardly a judge of character

Reckon a VL Calais turbo would cost a pretty penny these days eh

What I liked was his hand balling nearly always hit a team mate, frequently freeing up the ball.

I hope he rocks up on a Ducati 998R and proceeds to race 747’s up and down Operations Road.

Whats wrong with an 84 Camira which blows a bit of smoke?

The kid misses a lot of footy in 2019/20 . Starts to dominate for Jets when given the chance. Stands up at VFL level in three games. Looks physically ready, strong, excellent speed and acclaimed for excellent kicking skills. On current form projection is probably top 10 in next National Draft.

We’re not happy. FFS.

You could argue too that because we have such a lack of depth with smalls, that we have a number of midfielders rotating through half forward or half back. By beefing up the smalls at both ends, hopefully players who are actually earmarked as pure mids, can develop in the twos
