To go from being a first round pick to not being offered a deal in the space of 4 seasons is a bad outcome regardless of why. How Dodoro managed to put together a group of midfielders who all lack in pace, skills and size is an absolute disasterclass in list management.
Yeah, spot on. Durham, Caldwell, Merrett and Martin are all shockers. I’m equally angry at Dodoro’s insistence that Hobbs play on a half forward flank.
It’s a good point
Regardless of Disco/Rosa
Getting to the end of this ■■■■■■■■ of a year and Hobbs has played 10 games - all on a flank; and Tsatas has played 3(?) cameos, El Hawli’s had what 4? starts.
Those are killer to a list build and the list build should be 100% the focus for this year and next.
He recruited Shiel to the club, Parish, Hobbs and Tsatas, all of whom have poor to questionable skills by foot. Only one of them (Shiel) had any form of pace. Only Hobbs shows any sort of defensive pressure. Basically all are bereft in 2 of these 3 attributes:
- Kicking skill
- Pace
- Size
Yep, Merrett, Durham, Caldwell, Martin fine. But you can’t have another 3-4 players who slaughter the pill in your midfield group. And that’s not counting the likes of Setterfield either, who as brave as he is is slow as a wet week and can’t kick.
Wouldnt be surprised if Dodoro put out an autobiography and at the end it was revealed he was a Fark Carlton fan all along and it was inside job
Can they wash cars?
Hobbs will seek a trade this year… i think i mentioned it a few weeks ago. But his management has been talking to other clubs. The only reason he stayed on this season was essendon reassured him a role.
Hope you are right
Win win for both parties i think
Wow, the clubs incompetence knows no bounds.
true
He played every game he was fit? Or maybe 1 in the VFL.
He was kinda reasonable in the first half of the year and probably wasn’t quite right after coming back from the groin. At this point I’d love him to have Parish’s rotations for the first half of 2026, see what happens. Fresh start wouldn’t be a bad move either.
He got the role so I geuss they stuck to their word because some the games he put together and still got selected were head scratchers
Good luck with that Ben….HFF and minimal impact in a decimated midfield. Yep, you’ve got what it takes…..
The same could be said for the criticism from posters.
It’s a shame he’s no good at said role.
Think it’s best he seeks an opportunity elsewhere if he can. Best for everyone.
If only we had played a natural mid in the actual midfield
What did he show literally anywhere else on the field or in the VFL to say he deserved it. I am sick of seeing this. Are we supposed to just hand it to everyone.
The problem is, the coach did just that with certain players. He handed them game after game in all different positions to give them a chance.
But Hobbs, nah- you can stay on the hhf. Tsatas ,nah -you can be the sub
