Fringe player 2023

Pick a fringe player and Tell us why they will make it

I think VOSS, just looks impressive, has that air of confidence about him. played a few decent games of VFL where popped up with multiple goals. Plus looks like a good athlete. And has experience all over the ground, so could fill a number of roles.

Josh Begley was the best fridge player we ever had.

I’m all in on Baldwin.

He’s a big lump of a lad and is a clever footballer. Has done well to come back from two ACL’s. Played some good footy on the VFL. Could do well with a decent preseason and our improved development coaching.

Darcy Parish has always had a great fringe imo.

Michael Still. Taken a year younger than everyone in his draftee year but shades of Lloyd I tell you!

Menzie.

Tex Wanganeen: Lad has the natural skillset required to be a small forward. We have a spot in the side for a small forward with his skillset. I think with a full preseason we will see a fitter player able to be more involved in the play.

Time to add some class to our forward line.

Still and Hurley would be bookends for the next decade

I’m all about Ariel Steinberg… i see A LOT of Stevie J in him tbh

He used to destroy us in school footy. We would double team him and would still kick 10.

Pretty loose definition of fringe, but I agree.

Hard to separate Menzie, Voss and Baldwin. Would be great to see all 3 break through!

Fun thread, I’ll go with Massimo! Kid can seriously play and is lethal on that left peg.

Clean hands, good vision, and works his way out of congestion pretty well too, which I rate. He’ll force blokes like Hind & Kelly to really earn their spots in the side next year IMO.

Dyson Heppell for most improved for me, reckon the kid is almost there. This year is the year.

I genuinely forgot Michael Still existed.

Menzie. Every time I’ve seen him play he has done good things and built on his previous games. I think there’s still room for development. This is much better than say Tom Hird or Houlahan or Cahill who never improved Mutch.

Massimo

And for christs sake play him in defence. We need good ball users out of defence
