Game Day v WBD - Rd 10, 2025

Deja vu.

Only with a poorer form line, younger team and more injuries.

I think we get done, but am just hoping for some more dare and fight. Like the first half last week.

A game to give more ammunition to the lid off-ers and lid on-ers, either way.

Lucky we have that mighty fine roof on a cold and wet day hey?!

Reckon we’ve been flattered by most of our results this year (Melbourne game aside).
Gut feeling is that tonight will be similar to ANZAC day. Decent effort but clear gap in quality and class.

But pretty excited to see how we hold up. And excellent night to be at Marvel!

I think it’s potentially a “anything could happen” game.

It will be interesting to see if the Dogs are flat coming off the game up in Darwin, which may have taken a bit of a toll on them physically.

Fortunately for us they are not coming off a hiding, so mentally won’t feel they need to “prove anything”, and maybe just maybe, they might approach the game lacking enough respect to put them off a bit in their intensity early and hope they get burned a touch at least at the start if we bring some intensity early.

From there, hang on for another nail biter, fingers crossed :crossed_fingers:

Would be nice if they make Bailey Dale sub like last year.

The dogs love Marvel. I’m expecting a tough night at the office.

Played 1 good qtr a fortnight ago.
Played 2 good qtrs last week.

If we play 3 good qtrs we’ll win.

Aside from the Crows game, Essendon have shown encouraging signs.

They’ve had excellent quarters / halves. They’ve shown capacity, resilience to protect a lead late in games. All achieved with a refreshed, young list that excites for the promise of the future.

The game plan against teams in and around where Essendon sit on the ladder stacks up reasonably well.

The next stage of their development is to bridge the gap against top 4 teams who in the main treat Essendon with an element of contempt.

Imagine the belief this young team would gain beating the Dogs tonight? It would be great, potentially fast tracking growth?

Unfortunately, the Dogs’ run and gun is likely to overwhelm the Dons tonight.

Just don’t want to see the team raise the white flag at any point during the game. Be competitive, resilient Essendon.

Hoping for a couple of quarters of competitiveness that the young guys can hang their hat on inbetween us getting steamrolled. First time watching in person this season so will be a win for me if I can remember everyone’s name

We beat them last year with Hep, Cox, Kelly and Menzie in the team.

Can’t see why we can’t do it again.

I’m a bit of a bear this week.

Cant see us the dogs being as â– â– â– â–  and ill disciplined for a half of footy like Sydney were against us last week.

Very keen to see the boys play well tonight though. Who knows?

I really think our key possie outs will hurt sooner than later.

We also capitalised on their missed goal chances last year. They kept us in it and we made them pay from halfway through the second quarter. Suspect we will need some good fortune like that to win again.

I am too. On paper they’re 4-5 goals better on the day. If they kick 4.6 whilst we’re going at 5.0 type stuff we can win it. But we need them a bit flat and / or missing chances.

Kelly passes to Laverde, back to Jones, back to Laverde.

Laverde holds it
holds it
HOLDS IT
