Huh, Cats beat these Dees by the same margin last week at GMHBA but some on here won’t give our team much love for the win… Strange that
Happy to win but let’s remember this is the same team that got done by 10 goals by North and currently 0-5 and can barely snag a goal.
I take more from individual performances than getting any kind of hopes up knowing that Adelaide performance is lurking around the corner.
I agree thought it was a great night and atmosphere. Little bit congested leaving the ground. Great to watch the young bombers get the win, will be making the trek over from tassie again next year. Go Dons. Jye Menzie for PM
IMO, it’s a pretty good win given these outs. (except for Perkins).
The team seems to have some depth in its talent pool now.
Was a good win. A much better game than Port. Our luck is the Dees can’t score; they don’t have a forwardline. They also need a Pickett in the midfield AND the forwardline to make both work but unfortunately they don’t.
People can sneer at the win if they like but it wasn’t a terrible game by any stretch and we played a good game. Of course better teams will beat us this year; just no more Adelaide thumpings is what I’m asking for.
I think any side that can hit a target inside 50 will cause us trouble as we do look very leaky in defence.
West Coast are worse than Melbourne in that department so you would think there is a very real chance of giving them a decent smack down in Perth
What was pleasing we we also had to change things to win. Probably more than a couple of times.
Bryan going down.
They matched up on our spare back
Slowed it down when needed as they flooded back well
All with a pretty young team
Draper is beginning to have a huge influence on our game. His hit outs and follow up pressure in the ruck, his field kicking to targets, bringing the ball to ground in the forward line, or kicking goals, and floating into defence late in games to take critical marks, is enormous.
Whether Melbourne realised it or not, I agree that Draper off the field was a large part of the reason they had more success in the third quarter
C’mon, no matter how well Draper plays, some nuffy will say we should trade him to Adelaide for (high) draft picks. After the way he played last night, they’ll want to be very high ones indeed.
Yep, Melb sliced us up through the middle in transition and from center bounces too often, luckily their fwd entries were even worse than what we usually serve up. The game would have been a nightmare for Dees supports.
Pleasing victory at the end of the day. It was by no means pretty, but we got the job done.
It was nice to see the regular whipping boys have a good game and everyone contributed.
I still think we are a bottom 6 side, but our effort will keep us in games if we can keep it up.

still think we are a bottom 6 side
Agreed. And I’m fine with that if the composition of the team and effort that was on display last night carries on.
I didn’t get to watch the game last night, but watched abit of the replay this morning.
Gees, Melbourne are f*cked. Their allowance to let us take uncontested marks around the ground all day was unbelievable.
You have to wonder how they transformed from one of the best defensive teams in the competition a few years ago, with an organised zone defence that squashes the opposition…… to what they are now.
We are genuinely looking like grabbing a top 3 pick.
First time a long time we controlled the game from start to finish on the scoreboard.
Even when they were challenged in the 3rd we stood up makings of a good side imo.
Keep improving and winning dons its the right way

Happy to win but let’s remember this is the same team that got done by 10 goals by North and currently 0-5 and can barely snag a goal.
Agreed.
Pleasantly surprised to win but our last two opponents have dished up some real rubbish. We probably would have lost at least one of those games in the past so perhaps a step in the right direction… but if the last two games are a sign of things to come this year, there are a LOT of much better sides who will punish us.
You can only beat who’s in front of you.
Maybe credit should go to Essendon for not letting Melbourne play well.
I am giving credit for the maturity shown to win those games.
Should we be doing cartwheels at the potential prospect of another nothing 10th-11th finish? No.
If we do finish 10th-11th after starting the season 0-2 and in the bottom four how is that a nothing finish? I would call that progress
