Gather Round Dub 2025 - Review Thread

It’s pure stagnation.

Somebody has to always finish in that nothing 9th-12th spots. It doesn’t always have to be us.

Like I said… rapt to win. It’s a nice feeling. But there’s a fair chance it’s also a bit of a tease.

Getting Melbourne’s first pick this year is a bonus. Hopefully we get our own very decent first round pick as well.

Not if we rise from bottom four its not imo

Seriously?

It shows that we haven’t improved or gotten worse. Which has been a theme for 20 years.

When have we been bottom 4?

This year

Unfortunately we are not finishing bottom 4 this year.

Dreamin if you thought the team would go winless or not win many games.

We are always going to win some games

Has MrBaker dropped his review?

Good to see largely the kids get a win. The best for me is that we are developing a tougher edge after being so soft for so long. Langdon got softened up a couple of times, and not many contests were dodged. Draper is a massive part of this. Caddy and Hobbs also putting bodies on the line. They weren’t alone. A bit more classy outside run would be nice although Duursma and Martin seem to do well when on the wings. If Martin could clean up his delivery inside forward 50 would be great. Keep blooding kids and keep going hard at the contest. Go dons

22 disposals 1 goal

Another good game he’s back Reddog.

I reckon Jay Clarke has put a bit of mayo on that, and I think he tried to backpedal a bit when Jack expressed how unbelievable it was.

I speak my mind mostly… Here’s my thoughts on Menzie, which may sound harsh.

Last season showed Menzie gave us nothing, and he doesn’t have standout AFL traits. A game like yesterday he ended up kicking 4 goals. Is there a chance he can make it as a consistent AFL player all of a sudden? Answer would be most likey not, but he could. There are examples of players developing late and contributing to a team.

But do we take that risk in keep playing him, in the hope he can? I really fear now that he is going to play 60-80 games before we decide he is no good. Does it take away from Davey getting games?

Recent example would be Snelling… I just knew in a few games, he is no good. He ended up playing 64 games for us.

Other than Menzie, another guy racking up games is Jones. Just feels like Jones will never be a key forward. Not a good winger either… but he is just getting games.

Snelling was a decent player.

If Davey wants in then he needs to beat the likes of Menize for his spot. Davey shouldn be gifted games or any player for that matter

The guy couldn’t kick 35m. The ball dropped in the goal square when havinga shot from 35m out. Not to mention he misses 3m handballs. Didn’t have speed or leap or agility. One of the worst to pull on the jumper.

The issue for Davey is those two mentioned, Snelling and Menzies are better players than him.

I reckon we can have 5-6 (low %age) more wins and could finish 15th. Still not convinced we get to Rd 16 with more than 5 wins on the board.

WCE and Rich are locks for 18th and 17th. Ess in the mix for 15-16 with Melb and NM.

Actually I haven’t it as I watched on TV…really hard to see what’s happening with structure and game plan compared to being there live.

I might do later this evening if I get a chance.

Dees really are totally dysfunctional forward of centre and were quite content to let us possess the ball for as long as we liked. It seemed relatively easy for us to find loose men coming out of defence or away from a stoppage most of the night

You short-sighted plebs enjoy your little win against these ■■■■ teams and let the real supporters focus on the big picture, that only we can see naturally, cos we are supreme.

I for one am not lowering myself to enjoy a victory and pesky minor achievements like the emergence of Archie Roberts and Zach Reid- after all, these signs of life will only return us to mid-table mediocrity.
