Good to see largely the kids get a win. The best for me is that we are developing a tougher edge after being so soft for so long. Langdon got softened up a couple of times, and not many contests were dodged. Draper is a massive part of this. Caddy and Hobbs also putting bodies on the line. They weren’t alone. A bit more classy outside run would be nice although Duursma and Martin seem to do well when on the wings. If Martin could clean up his delivery inside forward 50 would be great. Keep blooding kids and keep going hard at the contest. Go dons
I speak my mind mostly… Here’s my thoughts on Menzie, which may sound harsh.
Last season showed Menzie gave us nothing, and he doesn’t have standout AFL traits. A game like yesterday he ended up kicking 4 goals. Is there a chance he can make it as a consistent AFL player all of a sudden? Answer would be most likey not, but he could. There are examples of players developing late and contributing to a team.
But do we take that risk in keep playing him, in the hope he can? I really fear now that he is going to play 60-80 games before we decide he is no good. Does it take away from Davey getting games?
Recent example would be Snelling… I just knew in a few games, he is no good. He ended up playing 64 games for us.
Other than Menzie, another guy racking up games is Jones. Just feels like Jones will never be a key forward. Not a good winger either… but he is just getting games.
The guy couldn’t kick 35m. The ball dropped in the goal square when havinga shot from 35m out. Not to mention he misses 3m handballs. Didn’t have speed or leap or agility. One of the worst to pull on the jumper.
Dees really are totally dysfunctional forward of centre and were quite content to let us possess the ball for as long as we liked. It seemed relatively easy for us to find loose men coming out of defence or away from a stoppage most of the night
You short-sighted plebs enjoy your little win against these ■■■■ teams and let the real supporters focus on the big picture, that only we can see naturally, cos we are supreme.
I for one am not lowering myself to enjoy a victory and pesky minor achievements like the emergence of Archie Roberts and Zach Reid- after all, these signs of life will only return us to mid-table mediocrity.
