Fark, and I can not emphasise this enough, Carlton.

Now that we’ve established the graphics on the night were wrong, here are the number of games that votes were gained in.

Who’s gonna step up as player #4, and #5, and…?

Player Games

Nanscawen 5

They are sooooooooo incompetent.

But it’s good to know Bonnie was the third best player in the league.

Trade and (first) free agent period starts Thursday.

RookieMe has put out their 2023 AFLW Draft Guide:

Ruby Mahony is the only current confirmed or past regular EFC VFLW player mentioned in it… but is well down the list.

Thoughts on this? I wonder what we’d be giving up

Hmm, I’m for it I guess. She’s a damn good player but I’d rather we target foot speed, and she ain’t that. But, it should help ease the current burden on Prespakis.

Or, alternately, I’d prefer we made a play for Libby Birch. Both because we could use her down back and it’d ■■■■ Hawthorn off no end.

I’m wondering what mix in the midfield we’re trying to build.
I think speed is lacking in our group.

Starting midfield is Nanscawen, Maddy P and Maddy G. Steph Cain helps with the rotation.
Georgia Gee on one wing. We played Matilda there, but I’d prefer someone with speed rather than distance running.

We’ve got enough list spots available to fill at the draft. Who do we cut next to make way for the trade? Barbs? One of the bevy of tall defenders we have?

I first assumed we’d be recruiting Gay for defense. Prespakis, Nanscawen and Gay is also a pretty small starting mid rotation I’d have thought?

To tell you the truth, I’m not too sure where she plays.
I’m mindful that media in AFLW labels a lot of players ‘midfielders’ when they aren’t, so maybe she take the spot (or helps) Kodi in the backline?

Yeah perhaps, I’m not sure about her preferred position but I know she’s played in defense mostly for the last couple seasons as least

My initial thought is she might get to play alongside Maddison Gray in the VFLW.

Yes, I’m shallow.

I think our list build policy of putting together as many Maddy’s and Gee’s is probably going a bit too far.

Maddy P. Maddi Gray. Maddi Gay. Matti Dyke.
Georgia Gee. Gee Nanscawen. Gee Clarke (or maybe it’s Ellyse Gee).

A lot of players with similar nicknames.

And hopefully at some stage soon - G Prespakis

Maddy Pearson. Maddi Ford. Maddi Wilson.

ALMOST two thirds of AFLW Draft Combine invitees will be available to each of the 18 clubs after 50 of the 78 players nominated nationally for the December 18 Draft. Eight of the original 86 nominees were taken off the board as part of the pre-listing, with the remaining 78 given the choice of nominating their home state or national. For Tasmanian and Northern Territory prospects, they all nominated nationally over club-ties to North Melbourne and Gold Coast respectively.

Across all nominations, not just the 78 above:

  • NSW got 2 exclusive nominations (both are Swans Academy, but GWS get to pick first…).
  • QLD got 4 nominations (2 each from GC and Bears academies).
  • SA got 2 nominations.
  • WA got 3 nominations.
  • TAS got 1 nomination.
  • NT got none.
  • VIC got 18 nominations. I think that says it all.
