Given our Mens woeful season, I’ve lost interest in Women already.
Just want it all over.
Given our Mens woeful season, I’ve lost interest in Women already.
Just want it all over.
I think I’m in the same boat. I love the women and enjoy watching them play a bunch, but by the end of the men’s season I find myself too jaded to care.
I’m still excited for the womens season but our trading at the end of last season was an absolute shambles. Unsure how Paige Scott can delist themselves and then go to whatever club they like but not getting any compensation was a joke.
I would have been far more upset about that if not for Grace Belloni.
She’ll be what we hoped Scott would be and more.
Looking like an absolute gun after one game. Very excited.
Besides, situations like the Paige Scott one will be swings and roundabouts while the league remains part-time.
We’ll be on the plus side of it at some stage.
Belloni replaced Clarke.
The upset bit was Yassir not replacing Scott… we needed a legit small forward.
Belloni does not play like Amber Clarke. Grace would bench what Clarke benches, plus Clarke herself.
Yes, we got the pick for Amber Clarke, but she’ll play the big midfielder/forward role. That’s what I was referring to.
Madison Ibrahim (9 games with Essendon VFLW this year) will be a top-up for Melbourne on Sunday.
Please give her back to us next week for the first final!
Good news. The overall standard of officiating at AFLW games has been below standard, so its good to import some experience and competence.
Oh lord…give me strength

FIXTURE CHANGE!
The AFL has moved the start time of our Round 2 game (Sunday Aug 24) from a 1:05pm start to now a 2:35pm start.
The Dogs v Tigers game got moved from 3:05pm to 12:35pm, as to not clash with the Dogs men’s game at 3:15pm at Marvel - the knock on effect seeing our game move.
In our 2025 newbies we have (at least) two previous (???, they were drafted at 18yo) disability support workers and a prospective doctor and a prospective paramedic.
Shows the difference in pace between the men’s and women’s where you can just go and retire and do media for a few years and then just jump back into it
Gotta dominate the first month…
Set to fall
Essendon - 5
Port Adelaide - 1
We are the best-attended team in Victoria… but our home ground can not hold the 6000 that is needed for the AFLW to continue to add rounds.
