feel like the betteridge law of headlines applies here
If ever there was a backdrop for a difficult level in a post apocalyptic video game, then that place is it.
Hideous. And, as if the road from Brisbane to the SC isn’t problematic enough already.
Why does qld not build an underwater themepark for a glimpse to brisbane’s future?
Already got one in the GBR. Oh, hang on…
Edit: maybe that’s what this is about - trying to keep tourism going when there’s no fkg coral left
Yeah, but Barnaby says they’re all promiscuous now.
He’d know about promiscuity.
I’m also sure he’d claim it’s the women’s fault.
Family values kinda guy.
I don’t know what that law is, but since that’s the name of our neighbours from the early 80s who moved to Qld (somewhere in that vicinity) to start a Dinosaur themed theme park, I expect that law is something to do with sunshine coast theme parks?
An headline ended with a question mark can be answered no.
Internet-connected cars are being weaponised for abuse by perpetrators of family and domestic violence, prompting calls for manufacturers to embed more safety features in their systems.
There has been a surge in reports from frontline service providers in Australia of coercive control through smart cars linked to apps and cloud accounts that can show the vehicle’s location, start the engine, lock or unlock and send alerts.
There have been 400 calls to the eSafety Commission’s Technology-Facilitated Abuse Service and a further 20,000 instances of frontline workers and other people seeking information on behalf of others, accessing the online hub since its launch just over 12 months ago.
So now women need to be mindful of cars, fridges and thermostats. This is beyond depressing.
Not just cars. Any device that doesn’t need to be connected to the internet to function, should not be. ‘Smart’ devices are a fkg plague. My air con doesn’t need a wi-fi connection, neither does my fridge or any other fkg household appliance. And Alexa needs to be set on fire and buried in a radioactive waste storage facility.
Every device that’s network accessible is another point of vulnerability into your network, from which ALL your devices are accessible. Every smart device contains another set of security libraries that the manufacturers will cease patching when they go out of business or simply stop bothering. Every network-connected device is hoovering up more and more of your data and personal behaviour and even your fkg speech to monetise and track and AI-simulate you. Every device that depends on software is vulnerable to just stopping working one rainy Tuesday when the manufacturer goes bust or stops paying their subscription to something and the central server stops responding. Every screen you have in your house is another place for marketing arseholes to populate with scammy spammy ads when the brand new executive has a bright idea about more way to monetise their tech.
It’s worse for women because women in general are more likely to get stalked than men, but it’s true for everyone. If you can at all help it, nothing you buy should be online or wi-fi enabled except your phone and computer.
You mean not even a TV set ?
The most time I have spent configuring my “smart TV” has been in dumbing it down.
They can ■■■■ off out of my loungeroom.
have a device that connects to a tv instead
I was hoping for a more positive post….
Avi Yemeni thinks otherwise!
I don’t see why you need a smart fridge or freezer, unless you’re at the supermarket and you’ve just walked past the freezer and your watch jolts you and says “oi, don’t forget the ice-cream”.
