I don’t share this image for the joke, but more to highlight how impactful Israel’s blend of intelligence gathering and targeted strikes has been at taking out a huge % of the Iranian leadership. This is obliteration of the Iranian state type effects.
Additionally, Israel has killed over a dozen nuclear scientists with aerial and car bombs.

Last update. Iran continues to fire barrages of ~100 ballistic missiles at Israel. Israel has gained air superiority over the majority of Iran and is hunting ballistic missile launchers with aircraft.
Iran had about 1000 missiles in stock. Some will have been lost in Israeli strikes on ammo stockpiles. Some will have been lost in the field as launchers are blown up.
My guess is that Iran has about 8 salvos left before they run out. That means they’ll need to either ration what they have for longer effect, go nuts and burn it all in 2-3 days or stop short of empty so they leave some for later. All of these options seem fine for Israel, there would be some pain, but nothing they can’t absorb. Once Iran has stopped firing missiles, there’s relatively little left that they can do directly.
I’m expecting a rush to a nuke and a broad smattering of low level violence around the world to kick off. I don’t see any other real levers left for Iran. If Iran did close the Hormuz Strait, it would hurt China and India more than the west.
Edit - currently Israel has effectively complete freedom of air movement across Iran and is using it to drop a guided bomb on every single target of substance. Every hardened aircraft shelter at one airbase has had a guided bomb drop through the roof. This is a complete display of dominance.

Has Israel actually declared war?
An estimated 10% of the Israel population are dual citizens. A high proportion would be US citizens, but there could be a fair few Australians
There are expectations of consular assistance from the non-Israel government of citizenship.
At present there would be enormous stress on our posts in Tehran, Tel Aviv and in the West Bank, together with concerns for their own safety and that of their families. There is a 24 hour crisis centre in Canberra.

Reportedly roughly 20% of world oil is exported through the Strait of Hormuz. Wouldn’t closure of the Strait have a wider impact on prices paid by western countries?
Yeah, would impact the world. The US is largely self sufficient these days, China is the largest oil importer. You would see a very different global impact today compared to the 80s when OPEC played shenanigans. It’s a big difference between getting your oil from somewhere and needing them to keep the costs down for others.
Apparently Iran has/had approx 100 launchers resulting in the approx 100 at a time launched. Israel looks like they are trying to find them after a detected launch. Chicken and egg dance going on.
