Jordan reported to have shot down several of the Iranian drones
Three distinct operations were conducted:
-
In central Iran, Mossad commando squads deployed precision-guided weapon systems in open areas near Iranian surface-to-air missile (SAM) sites. During the Israeli attack, these systems were activated in coordination with air force strikes across Iran, launching precision missiles simultaneously with high accuracy.
-
To neutralize Iran’s air defense systems threatening Israeli fighter jets, the Mossad covertly deployed sophisticated attack systems on vehicles. At the onset of the surprise attack, these weapons were launched, completely destroying the targeted Iranian defense systems.
-
In a third operation, the Mossad established a network of explosive drones infiltrated deep into Iran well before the attack. During the Israeli offensive, these drones were activated and launched against surface-to-surface missile (SGM) launchers at the Asfaqabad base near Tehran, which posed a threat to strategic targets and Israeli civilians.
It’s a slippery slope.
Doesn’t beat the pager operation but close.
Almost the exact same approach as Ukraine’s Spider-Web attacks on Russia’s strategic bomber fleet.
Iran authorities have confirmed with IAEA DG Grossi that there had not been elevated radiation levels following the attack on Natanz enrichment facility. Also that so far the Esfahan and Fordrow facilities had not been impacted.
Grossi noted numerous IAEA Conference resolutions on attacks on nuclear facilities, quoting the following
- armed attacks on nuclear facilities could result in radioactive releases with grave consequences beyond the boundaries of the State which has been attacked.
- any armed attack on and threat against nuclear facilities devoted to peaceful purposes constitutes a violation of the United Nations Charter, international law and the Statute of the Agency.
More can be followed on the IAEA site.
To clarify, Grossi quoted from the resolutions adopted by the General Conference of UN member States of the IAEA.
A Hezbollah official: “We will not initiate an attack against Israel”
Iraqi Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr: Iraq must not intervene in the war under any circumstances, we need to rebuild our country.
Iran has begun movement for retaliation in larger ways. US has warned Israel of a large scale attack being prepared.
Interesting read:
Macron has announced the suspension of the French/Saudi UN Conference on Israel Palestine issues.
The Conference was scheduled for 17-20 June in New York.
The US had lobbied against participating at the Conference, which would have addressed Palestine Statehood.
This might sound like a horrible thing to say but please take it with a grain of salt.
You see the clips on the news where missiles land in Israel and the damage looks reasonably small, I would have thought if they land they would be sending something that packed a punch.
Can anyone explain this to me is it to limit the casualties or do they not have the capability or something else
Without knowing a lot, could they be testing the waters in regards to breaching the ‘Iron Dome’ before they go with a larger scale attack?
Yeah that was also a thought maybe also depleting some of their stocks of the iron dome first.
If that’s does happen though I feel like Israel could ramp up to prevent further hits on it which would spell more problems
Military minds such as @Benny40 will be able to give you a much more in-depth run-down but the tldr is that If countries are trading ballistic missiles at range, by dint of physics, most of the missile mass is propellant to get the warhead to target so the explosive payload is relatively smaller (than say a large free fall bomb launched at altitude by aircraft like the russian FAB series with glide kits attached) and so the effect on impact is also proportional. Of course, the kinetic energy of the incoming warhead also plays a large part in its damage.
Great answer thanks mate that makes total sense
Unless it has a nuke on it.
