I do enjoy it when people quote a dictatorship as thought they tell the truth.

Not sure which dictator you are referring to.

There are so many these days and the number is growing.

I disagree. If the bombings continued over a course of years, even at a much lower frequency, then there would be big impacts on social viability, on economic output, on political viability (if senior staff keep getting targeted). They would be a punching bag who can’t retaliate and just has to take hits again and again and again. It would be humiliating. And there would be a real fear that Israel and/or the USA would start targeting economic targets.

And yes, it would be virtually unconditional surrender, which is why it that alterative too would be humiliating and not appealing. But with the cherry that it would likely lead to reduced or zero sanctions.

This is obviously only a concern if they think Israel and/or the USA has the appetite for long-term bombing. If not, they can just wear it out. But if those countries do have the willingness, then Iran’s leaders have (as I see it) two ■■■■ sandwiches to choose between. They may just choose to give up their program.

I heard a song on the radio today called Down in Iran by Wayne Wade. It’s a reggae song written in 1980 and makes references to Nuclear Weapons. The Iranians seem to have been bluffing about nukes for quite a long time.

HM have you ever thought about becoming a journalist? You have a serious writing ability.
Maybe when LLMs can write better code than you it can be a fall back (I know I’ve read your thoughts on them too).

lol, but thanks.

I’d love to write for a living, and I have the scratchy beginnings to half a dozen novels sitting neglected on my hard drive. But LLMs are going to gut the writing economy long before they hurt the coding job market. Code has to work correctly; journalism just has to sound convincing.

Meanwhile in Denmark, at first glance, this looks like an absolute winner to me.

In proposed legislation, Denmark are granting citizens property rights over their likeness and voice which would mean that people who find that their features have been used to create a deepfake would have the right to ask the platforms that host the content to take it down.

Rubio announced $30 million in aid to the Gaza Humanitarian Fund, but Spox is unable to advise the Budget line for delivering the grant. US has suspended all bilateral aid except for Israel and Egypt.
Rubio calls on other countries to assist the GHF.
France advises that it is willing to assist in the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, but no details on how it would deliver the aid.

They’ve been saying that since Bowie played there.

It’s very fortunate that Europe never played Glastonbury.

We should do something similar. Great idea. I assume it would also mean that if companies used content that had your likeness, they couldn’t then use it for things like LLM training, in materials you haven’t authorised, etc.

Might wreck meme’s though!

Oh no!! Will someone think of the memes!!

Reportedly, some Bands are now boycotting the Radar Festival after Radar dropped Bob Vylan from the Bill. Radar has explained that it was forced to drop Vylan at risk of the Festival not going ahead.

Wow. Who runs the radar festival?

I’ve watched Bob vylans Glastonbury set on YouTube.

In context I don’t get the hysteria.

Most of the dead and missing were attending a camp. The campsite photos are devastating.

What about this ■■■■■■■■ sending prayers whilst gutting the services put in place to warn people about these types of events and inform the public of likelihoods for the future. This event is what climate change means for everyone and he is a denier who is putting more people in danger every day he is in office.
