General World News

I only respond, I don’t initate. I am always vocal about any of the inocent people getting murdered. I have my friends who are Iranian, Lebanese, Syrian, Iraqi and others who have been persecuted by these regimes. In fact I had some guests last week who are Syrian Alowite muslims, the week befor some other Syrian muslims who had just migrated here because the ladies husband had been murdered by the regime. All they persecuted minorities are my concern. You can’t address everything in a 2 minute post

I totally agree, they need help, remember the internet has been shutdown by the regime so not much is getting out. The worst thing will be that there is no regime change, that will be ugly now.

Remember most muslims are killed by other muslims.

You’re on here most days…you’ve had plenty of time to call out the atrocities occurring in the places I mentioned.

OMG I told you I only respond. Can you not read.

I can read…and you can type…I’ve asked a question which you can now “respond” to.

Isn‘t that what you say you do?

OK If someone brings up a topic I have a passion for I will respond. I am not sitting here constantly trying to lecture people, I would much rather talk footy. As I have said I have many many very close friends who are from the middle east and from persecuted minorities. I could tell you some real horror stories but I won’t, Just leave it at that.

Probably the provocative question about Palestinian protestors going missing on Iranian protest duty might’ve been unnecessary. Just as your Iranian friends wouldn’t appreciate the sincerity of their motivations being impugned, neither would Palestinian Australians when it comes to another country decimating entire populations and neighbourhoods of Palestinians - and I use ‘decimating’ purposefully, though it’s probably much worse than that in some cases. It’s all goodies in the great handbasket headed for hell.

The cynic in me says it’s all guns. Muslims v Muslims just happen to be the parties arguing over whatever it is that matters most(usually land).

Ask a few Latin Americans or perhaps Africans as well. Not just Muslims.

Then find out who’s arming angry people.

:russia::united_states::china:.

I’ll get off my high horse on being super anti :water_pistol: on our footy forum.

When all the hot air clears imho it is and always will be the efforts to de-arm that will lead to more peace in any region.

Hopefully that’s what happens here in our lovely generally peaceful country this year.

Something is going on with the Yanks, reckon they are going to bomb Iran in the coming days. Airlines already plotting contingency routes which usually means they have some sort of idea that something may kick off.

I’m guessing the Stealth Bombers will stop in the NT again

So antisemitism now extends to not discussing Israel too.

Got it.

Yes the people of Iran need some help. The brutal Islamic regime must end.

Direct military involvement though? That could get very very ugly

Can one of our military experts explain what the Americans would hope to achieve by bombing Iran…in terms of actually helping the people of Iran?

I’m just a layman with an interest in military things but I’m struggling to think what the targets might be.

Bomb a Republican Guard base…that might kill a few but would just enrage the rest…which wouldn’t help the people.

Military targets such as airfields, naval bases, army barracks??? still don’t see how it would help the people.

You can discuss Israel as long as you don’t say mean things about the place …or it’s leadership.

Eg: Wow, the weather in Tel Aviv has been good lately!

That is an entirely acceptable statement.

However, one should be careful with something like the following statement:

Gee, the humidity is Tel Aviv is terrible.

Such a mean and critical lie should not be posted as it’s clearly anti-semitic.

I hope this helps you with future posting on this subject

I mean you could try and do what they did with Maduro with Khamenei but Iran do have the means to respond pretty heavily. You’d be starting a war.

Every crater is a potential fresh water well

Exactly…I just cannot figure out what positive outcome would be achieved.

And even if they went in and detained Khamenei, you’d need to occupy Iran and see out a complete regime change, you can’t just drop a VP in there like he did with Venezuela

And its not as simple as just removing Khamenei you’d have to overthrow the entire revolutionary guard corps too

it’s not even really about overthrowing it, so much of the country’s civil infrastructure is tied up in the KAA and it’s corruption

to fix Iran you would need a genuine visionary with overwhelming support of the people to entirely uproot their society (and a shiiiton of money)

won’t happen
