General World News

The only way US will get involved is if theirs something in it for them…As an example if the Shahs son said “get rid on the regime, and will give you X number of oil and gas for X number of years … then Trump will ready to go.

The best I can vibe about the happenings on the ground is:

  • Free starlink is working, mostly in richer central and northern regions
  • Armed security forces are aggressively shooting and arresting protesters. Some areas this is combatted by running away, people opening houses to hide protesters, fighting back.
  • Fighting advantages the security forces who have assault rifles. Protesters armed with knives, but poorer areas becoming a no-go zone due to security casualties. Some areas have hunting rifles or assault rifles.
  • Thousands have been killed. The internet blackout is hiding the true scale of the tragedy.
  • Tehran reportedly quiet now after massive crackdown - per German journalist
  • Push from regional countries to delay US bombing as regime isn’t weak enough to fall, may trigger a rally around the flag effect.

This is from unknown quality sources, but fits with what would be expected.

The lack of quality information getting out is part of the reason there’s little media coverage.

I want them to get some basic knowledge of the middle east.

It is a conversation as it is anti semitic, the protesters don’t give a rats tossbag if Isreal is not involved.

The regime is also hunting the starlink users which is making it worse for info getting out.

Yes and Yemen, Syria and Lebanon

Not going to chase this one too hard, but are you still referring to so called paid protestors or are you actually saying that anyone protesting Israeli actions in Gaza is merely anti semitic? And because they aren’t out protesting Iran’s treatment of its own people that’s the proof?

Any way I come at this it’s very silly, I’m hoping you just haven’t explained your comments enough

The important question to answer is should another country interfere militarily with another countries internal government?

This is unanswerable without knowing all the facts and what the outcome of said planned action will be.

Could lead to more deaths of protesting civilians depending on what the external actions are.

No external action will probably lead to the governing status quo.

Add another few dozen outcomes.

Obviously not all, but there is a lot of ignorance. A lot of it is emotion and people digesting news sources that do not give the whole picture. There are many genuine protesters, but I wish they would spend some time trying to find out what is going on. The left ( of which I consider myself one of) have got this totally arse about. People supporting regimes that do not support anything the left has fought for, for 100 years. Regimes that are the biggest oppressors of women in history. I just don’t understand it. A lot of it is scamming the genuine people though.

The answer is mostly no, but Iran is too far gone now. If something is not done there will be mass slaughter.

We don’t know that.

The slaughter might be nearing its end, it might not.

External action might lead to more.

So you’re talking about gullible whitey bleeding heart types who love a good chant? Weekend warriors? Probably the ‘genuine protestors’ you mention deserve better than to be lumped in with whatever real or imagined part time outraged folks you’ve got in the gun then.

It wouldn’t be too far fetched to assume CIA operatives aka as arms salesmen are doing a brisk business in the townships in Iran.

It has started already, and will get a lot worse unless the regime falls. I am hoping the unarmed civilians can win but I am not convinced they can. Expect something from the US in the next 24 hours.

Listen to some of the interviews of the protestors, not exactly well informed views. All emotion and no facts.

Why is this current activity in Iran triggering you?

I haven’t seen any comments from you about Yemen, South Sudan, Sudan, Myanmar and Syria where thousands of civilians have been getting killed (I am deliberately leaving out mentioning another part of the world where worse stuff has been happening).

Are Iranian people more worthy of your concern?

Was reported to be pretty quiet over night not long ago.

Trump is pumping them up to fight. Protest are carrying posters saying Trump help us.

If US provides limited or no help many more will die and their will be no regime change.

I would take as much from that as I would listening to Essendon fans being interviewed about their fravourite Kafka short stories

Not specifically responding to you @swoodley , however, I fully agree that you cannot call out what has happened in Gaza and completely ignore the atrocities occurring in other parts of the world. Almost makes me think, when an Arab kills an Arab - it’s ok?

Or when a Persian kills a Persian (as in the case of Iran).
