Get the hell out of Essendon - Patrick Ryder

Does anybody really believe someone would walk up to a baby and say that in front of his mother?
Sounds completely made up.

Are you kidding? Maybe you should spend more time reading comments and checking out twitter. Mate, nothing is out of bounds. We live in the era of nothing out of bounds. Deplorable, but true.

Both guesses are just as likely.

However, the fact is that the story is complete PR heart strings stuff and was undoubtedly managed by Connors who has been bleating this type of crap from the day he announced Paddy was going..

He is trying to pry Paddy loose and will stoop to anything to get it done.

The fact that some members of the public are tools does not mean that everything asserted in the article is gospel and even if it is true it is only printed to make EFC look bad not the person who said it.

The basis of the article that the child was in some sort of PED drug induced danger is rubbish and anyone with any sense knows it is.

Playing the below the belt emotional stuff is SOP for these types.

The fact Paddy is up for it despite his protestations that he loves his mates diminishes him severely.

You can try and leave if you want to but playing this sort of game to do so is beneath an EFC player.

Of course. I'm sure it was as carefully rehearsed as a court testimony. Whether the actual statement is true or not might be open to question, but the disturbing reality is that it could easily, and probably is, true.

I don't really care about his reasons or actually anything else about Patrick Ryder and his family.

He has a contract, so he plays or he is in breach.  If he is in breach then he pays compensation to the Club for its loss and doesn't play again for two years.

The decision is his.

All of us, have to make hard decisions in our lives, and sometimes at great cost. We live with them and Patrick Ryder has to do the same.

From my side, I would never let anyone leave a contract unless it greatly benefited me; that is why we sign contracts.

This.

If you strip away the PR cr@p from Ryder/Port/manager it is really quite a simple issue.

Sounds completely made up.

I do.

My wife put a picture of our baby girl on Facebook in her Essendon baby clothing the day her Baby Bomber membership arrived. A cute, harmless photo that elicited the predictable gooey comments.

Except for her knuckle dragging, Carlton supporting, neanderthal of a cousin who commented "Careful you don't feed her to many peptides or she will end up deformed instead of a mutant like the Essendon players". No "LOL" or smiley face to at least make it look like a joke, just a disgusting troll comment. I deleted it and sent him a private message cordially inviting him to refrain commenting on our baby (his cousin as well mind you) ever again.

I know keyboard talk is cheap in my case, but the hate in the community and the sense of entitlement to express it because it's football, is very, very real. So yes I find it entirely plausible that it happened.

"I would have stayed for ever if the saga was over quickly, but the longer it's dragged on the more I realized how much I wanted more money".

Mate at work was taking about it as we went and got coffee, I found the paragraph where he says he would've stayed if the investigation, etc was dealt with more swiftly. He changed tune pretty quickly. Given that little gem was buried a fair way into the article it will probably be glossed over by many, but it is a very salient point and shows how flawed this whole Breach of Contract argument is if he is on the public record saying that. It's not heresay, it's down in back and white.

Goodbye Paddy. You are not fit to wear the red and black any longer...

Pretty stupid thing to say, think he just made it a hell of a lot easier for the club to defend the breach of contract argument.

It has been ASADA delaying this whole thing, not Essendon. In fact in reference to the NRL case WADA made it pretty clear they were extremely unhappy that ASADA finished their investigation in November last year and yet show cause notices were not issued until August this year.

In our case investigation ceased in November and SCN were not issued until June, it was until that time the Club did anything to delay proceedings and that was to challenge the legality of the investigation and it delayed matters by what, 2-3 months, they had legal advice that suggested they were in a strong position to win the case, and thus this was the quickest and easiest way for them to end the matter, which appears is what Ryder wanted.

True, but I still stand by my last line. "It's a privilege, not a right" to wear our jumper. In my eyes, the way this has all played out, taking fitness/conditioning instructions from a club/fitness coach and going to the papers whilst you are still a contracted player to this footy club with TWO YEARS left to run shows a complete lack of respect and a lack of class to a club that has stood by him for nine years. It won't be forgotten...

So does that mean you will stop supporting the Bombers, use that as a reason to switch and follow Port because it is all Hird et al's faults and make sure everyone you know is told that?

In reference to the innuendo regarding Paddy's girlfriend, I was always brought up to believe that two wrongs don't make a right. That's pretty old school these days, but something I believe in still. Now I don't know what this pertains to, and as a supporter of Essendon I can see the value of a counter-balancing story to the one way narrative. And I'm curious. End of the day though we shouldn't stoop to the depths of those ranged against us.

One day this will all be past and the story will be properly told. Dead set we won't come out of that looking pristine, but I hope that for all the tales of mismanagement and incompetence we can at least say we acted with some kind of dignity. In that Hird should be our model, a man with more excuse than anyone to go ballistic, and yet throughout he has maintained a calm and courteous air. We all get ■■■■■■ off sometimes, but it's unwise to act out of that.

There was a farktard at the North final who made a few comments about "Paddy's deformed baby" so yes these people exists.  I simply pointed out to him that he was proof that you didn't need peptides to be retarded.

I thought the same thing. Very well could happen, I suppose, but I doubt it did.

It seems pretty clear to me that we would have a damages case against ASADA over those comments, as would Ryder. They certainly don't have a defence that what they told him is true.

He was really upset after we beat PORT last year.

Of course someone would do it.

For the same reason fkwits get in punch ons outside the footy. Roadrage people with stickers of the team they support on their car. Scream all manner of abuse from the outer with children sitting around them.

So troubled - maybe he was going to use the empty bottle as a weapon.

Interesting that the Herald Sun is putting 'ASADA using coercion & fear' in the headlines, just in time for the Hird vs ASADA case.

and some folk actually believe the sloth Robbo is sympathetic towards EFC . . . . . .just fkn LOL

These are the flogs and farktards who live vicariously through football teams. A lot of these **** probably have no lives, no mates and are ■■■■ people. I haven't been abused for barracking for Essendon, but my response would be "get a life".

He is a self serving wanker. Can't stand that buffoon. How someone as ignorant, intolerant and idiotic as him can be head writer at a paper is beyond me.
