On first glance I though the thread title said Pazza, not Pizza


The Japanese don’t get pizza at all. Every single farken one gets slathered in mayo or covered in corn, or both. And the crusts suck. You do Dominos there just to survive.

One of my fave pizza memories was ordering a Hawaiian in the presence of an Italian. She lost her ■■■■ about pineapple being on it. I called back the waiter and asked to get extra pineapple to put on top.

Not enough love for meat lovers pizzas in this thread. One of the tastiest ones I had recently was from LaPorchetta, but I was wtf at the price. I replicated it at home for about 1/10th of the cost. Was sensational if I say so myself.

Pineapple 100% belongs on a Hawaiian, and anyone who says differently can screw Mcfarkface.

Marinara pizzas can be thrown back into the ocean where they belong, as they are awful concoctions, an embarrassment to mankind, and this is coming from someone who loves seafood.

The best pizza I ever had was in MestrĂ©, just outside Venice, in 1978. We were poor and couldn’t afford to stay in Venice itself, and if an eating-place was cheap, it was good. We were only there for three days, which we spent wandering around Venice looking at all the free stuff and getting hungry. First night we went to this place where they did pizza and other basic Italian stuff. Pizza calzone: pizza base, tomato paste, ham, mozzarella. Unbelievable. Mrs Shelton (just a blushing bride back then) refused on principle to eat the same thing three days in a row, but I adopted the Mortein approach: When you’re on a good thing, stick to it.

The only way I could go there again is if the rocket was added to said pizza after the oven. I just can’t do wilted and warm, leafty greens. It doesn’t taste right.

The feta and the pepperoni I’m cool with. I’ll just take the rocket off

I’ve had 2 good places for marinara - Trevis in Glenhuntly Rd (long gone), and a place in Kailua on the Big Island. Had a few crap ones too at other places.

I tend to run with Mexicans, Volcanos, never minded the Aussie with an egg

Trevis had a Tropical - with shrimps, pineapple and capsicum - that was good, as was their Brooklyn - meatballs and onions.

One of the best I had was a Madrid in Commercial Rd in about 1980 - hot salami, pineapple, spring onions and lots of chili. I was in pain the next day. The pizza joint shut down a little while later as that area became the gay heart of Melbourne. But no-one would do as much damage to your freckle as that Madrid.

There are three pizza joints in Port Fairy - one traditional, one new-age and one semi-traditional toppings (plus some fancy others) but use frozen pizza bases.

One of my mates and I were having a chat about the different types of pizza toppings out there and we both agreed that Marinara can Get F'ed. Anyone have a pizza that they think is just wrong?

Yup. When I first started cooking for myself I’d stack the topping on so high. But now, less ingredients means crispier toppings, crispier base, happy Davo.

I think pineapple is fine on a pizza when it’s fresh. Always take it off if it’s a reheated pizza. Anchovies can gagf.

Dominos and Pizza Hut can gagf too. Putrid pizzas.
