Half of Victoria in for Days long Blackout?

Fark…

Whoa. Almost bang on doubled itself.

Won’t see that too often.

It is a relatively small dam which gets emptied almost every year with a capacity of less than 180 k ml. In 2007 one flood filled it in a day including with some trees and caravans and other debris.

How far north did the rain stretch, anyone know? If it dumped enough into the ovens & Goulburn basins to maybe give the Murray a flush out, and raise the river levels enough to soak the river red gums and give the cod a flood season to spawn in, then that’d be really nice.

Inch or two only. Nothing to generate a flood. All the 100mm plus stuff was south of the divide. Weird system with the cut-off low taking the cold air north to NSW while vic got the tropical moisture drawn down the outside of it wrapping around and ploughing in from the SE, with the line of it basically stationary. 300 mm around Traralgon and towards Baw Baw. With colder air there was nearly 2 ft of snow at Perisher, while the early 20cm at Buller all got washed off. But not unusually big totals at any of the resorts draining north. Decent totals but normal for any year. Gippy has had another 30-40 since yesterday arvo which won’t help things drain.

And believe it or not if the charts come true there’s a moderately similar Lo possibly forming end of next week as well. Hopefully it doesn’t line up for Gippsland because that’ll still be saturated.

Will it all fall on the Williamstown Cricket Ground when our VFLW team are there? Not many of the current team got to experience that sideways hail that previous time…

My sister tells me that they finally have power back in Mount Ev.

I went up there yesterday to get my parents outta there and down to my other sister’s place, and the carnage on that mountain really is quite something.

They’ve done well to clean it up.
Ausnet down to 55,000 without power after being at over 200,000 when I could last check.

They seem pretty spread out rather than all in one area.

Although those ones in Mooroolbark I posted are still out/down + the one on Durham road.

Please tell me they did not drop that tree onto their own vehicle…

Nope. They heard a crack, didn’t know where it was coming from. All scattered out of the vehicle and luckily none of them ran where the tree was coming.

Unreal. So lucky that they weren’t injured… or worse.
They do an amazing job.

My sister lives in Healesville, still no power as of this arvo.
Not ideal.

Don’t think Yarra Glen does either, or a chunk of the area around Belgrave.
I did chuckle when our footy coach posted on Thursday or Friday that we were going to train this morning. Clearly does not know why it’s called Yarra Glen or the history of it flooding every time we get a few mm of rain!

Updated time for my power coming back on is Tuesday morning. Some other places nearby are Thursday. Local retailers doing a roaring trade in portable gensets.

My latest advice is Wednesday afternoon . At least the power came back to my warehouse last night
and the freezers had only dropped to -10. If this had happened in summer I’d have lost the lot.
