For anyone in Sydney in Nov - probably the biggest/best collection of strong people Australua is likely to see for a long while
Not in the vid but also attending is Maryanna Naumova, a 15 year old girl that benches over 120kg
Does anyone use any YouTube workout videos. I tried a tapout xt one and wasnāt bad. Just wondered if there was a good channel to subscribe too. I just want to strengthen my core mainly.
Also for anyone who cares, the bird from the Saints that got sent home from NZ this year was the same one that got sent home last year lol
with it being the saints, half of me wants to know more about what you mean, the other half doesn't.
A good reason why athletes should develop maximal strength: He's my friend who is 180cm and 115kg jumping onto a 127cm box from a seated start. Only ever "trains" jumps about once every 8 weeks when he does the Crossfit powerlifting seminars (otherwise it's all powerlifting/bodybuilding) Hopefully you can see the vid, otherwise I'll find some other way to link to it

Lol. basically same chick St Kilda employee got sent home from NZ over the ANZAC weekend 2 years running for getting **** faced and making a ā ā ā ā (or in this case ******?) out of herself in front of more senior officials.
obviously a smart lass

I've d/l'd the Tapout XT Cardio session and I really like it. I'd like to do the whole program except it pretty much blocks out all other exercise. So you can't really follow their program AND do your own thing.
I started trying to watch Youtube 'fitness' channels for info, and ended up watching them for comedy value.

"You're gonna make all kinds of gains, all kinds"
Weighed in at 79.7kg for my comp tomorrow (82.5 cut off for my class)
Up to 81 atm, hopefully get it up even higher by the time I hit the platform tomorrow
Weight cutting⦠Youāre doing it wrong!!
Yeah I canāt cut for ā ā ā ā lol
Actually, I canāt cut, bloat or gain weight for ā ā ā ā
For the more bodybuilding minded hereās a really good article on training your back
http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/most_recent/a_monstrous_back_the_mountain_dog_way
Iāll be doing something similar to this after my heavy bench day to try add some mass to improve leverages and also bar control
Basically outline for me is
Bench press variation - 1rm then 3 sets with 80-85%
Heavy BB or DB rows 3-5 sets
Pull downs or pullovers 3-4 sets of 15 reps or so
Shrugs 3 sets of 20-30 reps
Reverse DB flies 3 drop sets aiming to get to 60 reps total each set (same guy explains this in an article about his shoulder training - basically you pick a weight you can only do 1/2 reps. Iāve done it once and itās brutal)
Then hammer curls for 4-5 sets of 15-20 reps to try to prevent any elbow tendinitis
Just a heads up that if anyone tries training like that ^ itās pretty f*ckin brutal lol
Mate is doing a sports science degree and is currently doing a study on weight cutting. He's looking at the effects of high intensity training on metabolism and body composition ect. Agreed to help him out, without realising what I got myself in for.

He's apparently designed a sled workout to make me throw up. Best of all, I get to go back and do it twice :(
So the workout was basically to test power and endurance. Started doing vertical jump test, then onto the actual workout, then testing vertical jump again post workout.
Ā
10kg on a sled. Sprinting as fast as possible for 12m, rest for 20 seconds, go again for 30 sprints.Ā
Ā
Doesn't sound much but my heart rate was a solid 185bpm for pretty much the entire test. I was cooked at the end.
Ā
Haven't got all the info yet but it basically confirmed what I know about my fitness anyway: from my first sprint to my last sprint the time only dropped by a couple of percent. I recover well and have pretty good endurance, but didn't have the explosive power some of the other athletes did. Some guys were lightning at the start and then gassed after like 8 sprints lol
Ā
Be interesting to see what happens next week.. I got about 4 hours sleep and drank like a fish last night, so was already on deaths door before the workout. Next week I'll rest up!
Second workout done and sadly not much better than the first lol. Apparently that was the goal of the testing, so at least I helped a mate prove his thoughts
Ā
He had a lot of interesting crap to say about AFL training not being the most effective way to train athletes, but we'll leave that alone...
Anyone had experience/issues with quad reactivation post acl reconstruction? Trying to get the muscles moving two days after op but feeling extremely sore and tentative, donāt want to push it too much but wary of doing enough. Sharp pains shooting down to the ankle and complete numbness in the shin donāt help obviously. Had the bulk of the meniscus cut away and a lesion cut from the pcl too as well as some works done to bone bruising on the femur and tibia.
Not had physio ? As good as Intertubez diagnosis & treatments are I would probably go see someone.
Obviously had a physio but testimonials are always helpful, especially from thr trustworthy blitz community

And I just moved into the 90kg class . . . FML

Oh, and if anyone remembers the big Russian that benched 270+ after he got stabbed, well at the same comp as that deadlift he benched 325kg lol
Copped a whack in the left hand side ribcage last night while fighting for a rebound. almost under my armpit. Feels a bit grabby most of the time, and it hurts on my left side when I move suddenly or breathe deeply. So, Sports Docs of Blitz; can I tape it up, or will it do f-all? Do I just have to live with it, or will anything help healing?
