Kick to space infront not on players head and have some ■■■■■■ crummers…each time the ball gets kicked in there are about 3 blokes from the opposition who have gone deep to crumb and swing it back out straight away, are we saying that’s ok as we will build a wall? We need small forwards!
Can we have Michael monstering defender carnts please?
That ball is only about 3cms away from Kommer! Plus, he already has one to kick a goal with.
*helping out the “Our forwards are too slow/dumb,/confused” side.
To be honest i don;t think its the personell down there so much. Our forwardline was ■■■■ when we had crameri, ryder, carlisle, hooker, monfries, davey and the likes in there, plus we have been through i think 3 forward line coaches in the past few years.
Clearly the issue is the midfield. I wouldn;t mind experimenting a little bit and going with a completely small forward line for a few weeks (this is the year to experiment). This will teach the mids that they have to lower the eyes and actually hit a fucken target, as opposed to bombing it in not to advantage. The small forwards will be instructed to create space and forward line pressure all day and the mids will be advised to turn quickly and hit a short pass inside 50 (it’s amazing tippa seems to be able to do this no issue every time he gets the ball in the front half). It has worked for the bulldogs over the years, might be worth a try. Learning that final kick into 50 is the most important kick in the game, our mids need to learn it and learn it fast.
Okay, let's recombobulate this.
10/10 for using this word.
I knew I wasn’t wasting my time including you in the grand Blitz think tank !
Daniher further upfield and Langford deep forward. Bring Zerrett down forward, yeah I know we like to play him as a midfielder but he’s good forward; get somebody else to fill that mid gap.

It amuses me that when Stants was playing and our leading I50 kicker it was all his fault, now we have different players and it is their fault instead.
How about we focus on why we consistently have supposedly poor forward entries? No forwards or forwards who have no idea how to play forward.
How do we fix the forward line ? I would like to think that Jim 2012, Jim 2013, Bomber 2014, Jim 2015 and now Woosha 2016 and all of the combined football wisdom in the line coaches, analysts, mentors , former champions of the club would have been working on this over the last 5 years.
Here we are discussing it on a fan forum, in utter disbelief that our forward line is now the worst in the AFL when none of the 12 was a permanent forward.
But talking about the cause of the falloff in the forward line, Is it a coincidence that the rise of Jobe , his injuries and subsequent fall off in influence almost follows the profile of the forward line performance in the last 5 years .
IMO, over reliance on Jobe due to the lack of a second A grade inside mid until last year and the lack of any A grade mids this year are the root cause of the problem. In this respect the loss of draft picks hurt us badly .
start drafting for a gun midfield.
take the best mid (probably best player) available with our first pick.
take a clearance mid with our 2nd pick
take an outside fast mid with our 3rd pick.
when midfield class shines through the forwards will have the time and space to make proper leads and get in scoring shots. Less joe leading to the left pocket and have to kick on his left and hoof the ball oobotf.

As long as we don’t play those bigger meaner kids from Iceland we’ll be fine.
We surely could use the " Hansons ".
65% of goals come from turn overs.
We need to sort out the zone defence, put more pressure on the ball carrier, & then hit our targets when moving the ball into the forward line.
It can’t be fixed this year, the problems are too big.
The last time our forward line functioned well was 2013. (And even that is only in hindsight.) One of the major factors behind that was that Hurley, Crameri, Davey and Ryder / Bellchambers had been playing together as a forward unit for a few years.
At the moment, it’s a different crew every week.
I think we should start looking to next year, and get games into a group of forwards who look likely to be in the forward line in our future. Don’t waste time with Grimley or Polkinghorne unless we really, really have to.
Play JD, Brown, Fanta, Eades and Redman together as many times as possible, and get some understanding happening between them.
So yes, my solution is Redman

Theoretically that’s what we do now.
However the problem is due to top ups and younger bodies whether by design or default too many bodies are needed back to create said pressure.
so when a turnover comes and we get the ball ther’es no one infront of the ball carrier to kick it too.
which leads to panic, which inturn ultimately results more often than not in our turn over.
I’m one who gets you have to move forwards up the ground, but we’ve steadily got worse and worse at this where they push up way too far.
Skippy, nor egan before him are ultimately not to blame. I said the same thing under Hird, it’s ultimately the head coaches directive the team plays too, and the assistant coaches adhere too.
right or wrong, meaning it or not this is the way worsfold is allowing the team to play, if not directing them too. whether it’s just cos of the circumstances of this year or whether it’s the long term plan who knows.
Whatever the case may be, it is not working out that well at present.

The last time you pumped up a forward prospect almost this much, it was Jay Neagle !
Flying "V"Ooh I like this. Scrap my "bomb from outside 50" idea, and instead we run it all the way to the square.
All we need to do is win clearances, and then have 10-14 blokes protecting the ball carrier, laying shepher…
never mind

Firstly what forwards? Secondly how are you going to stop Joe leading to the pocket? LOL Been doing it now for three years, keeps getting picked, and keeps getting the ball delivered on his head because where else is it supposed to go when delivered to a stationary target?

by showing him replays of us losing to carlton 1999.

True.
You cant see it on TV, but there’s no one home.
That’s why all those frustrating midfield hand passes happen.
Lloyd & Lucas would now be so far up the ground they would never have become champions.
