Time well-spent I would say.
I know I was.
Except if Austin Lucy, and/or his pet Trex were playing FB, weâd need an extra pair of arms extended in the chain. But otherwise a brilliant idea as long as there is no lifting or misconduct or other stuff that doesnât conform with the AFLâs version of common sense.
I think weâve found plan B!
Diggers technically correct.
However. Rampe layed on the ball and made ess player unable to pick it up till he got out of the way, then pretended to give it back but didnt.
I would have paid the free kick cause he was a prick.
more so that he didnt get up straight away so ess player could get ball, than not actually giving it back.
Rampe was directly holding up the play so that the essendon player couldnt play opn quickly and swans could mobilise their defence back. He caused more of a hold up than devon smiths elbow on player which resulted in a extra 50m pentaly after stringers.
Rules are so grey and open to interpration umpires can choose when or not to pay them.
And even if they stuff up they will be looked after.
Way back in the ancient days of 2018 when I was still playing footy, I gave away a free. Bloke walks back, I stand the mark, ump doesnât move, ball still on the ground. We all stood there like dckheads for about 10 seconds. âFine,â I thought to myself, âIâll break this stalemate and get the fkn ball.â Took two steps and went to scoop the ball up to the other bloke. Didnât get my hand all the way under and the ball landed at his feet. Whistle. 25m for not returning the ball properly.
Fkn dumb fkn rule.
Take the basketball approach. Whistle goes for ball up, throw-in or free - whoever has it must give ball to the closest relevant umpire ASAP. They then have it for the bounce/throw, or they give it straight to the free kick recipient. Dropping it, delaying or any other shithousery is a free or 50.
A suspended fine FFS. Afl are really digging a hole with this one.
Another good take on it:

$1000 fine for shaking the post. Fully suspendedâŚ
So what⌠he will only pay if he does it againâŚ
What a joke!
We are also getting the free kick paid retrospectively, but that also is fully suspended, unless Rampe again humps the goal post next time he plays us.
LOL.
An absolute farce of a competition. Hope it implodes.
Rampe was fined $10,000 for telling Mollison he âtalks like a little girlâ following a holding the ball free kick in the second quarter of the SCG win. However $5,000 of that has been suspended for the rest of Rampeâs career.
Rampe has then been handed a fully suspended $1000 fine for jumping onto the goalpost during David Myersâ post-siren kick to win the game.

If there was no free kick what are they fining him for. FFS.
It means there are warring factions within the AFL. Maybe even someone with, LOL, integrity.

Itâs just a discretionary fine as it doesnât effect his bank account.

What a joke!
The jokeâs on us. Iâll bet if one of our players did what Rampe did, thereâs be a free kick and a suspension.
Things are different for SydneyâŚ
That is fkn brilliant
Get that man a beer!
I note that he was fined for âclimbingâ the goalpost, not âshakingâ it.
Yep.
And you can definitely expect a new âRuleâ banning Goal Post climbing next year.
