LET’S GO TO THE ROYAL
LET’S GO TO THE ROYAL
(assuming pako/cran line) once the loop opens you’ll have to switch at caulfield anyway
edit: this doesn’t make marvel easier
Travelling on the Frankston line actually, but I get your point. I prefer the MCG in just about every way and the ease of getting to the venue plays a big part.
While remaining on the eastern side of the city works for me personally, I understand it doesn’t for the majority of our fanbase.
Ideally we should be 4 at Docklands
7 at the G.
It takes me nearly 2 hours to get to Melbourne via Vline. Then another 15-20 mins to get to the G.
That extra 15-20 mins is worth it.
I’ve decided against going to games, just because it was at Docklands…. Even tho it’s easier to get to. Being a non-seated member, it honestly sucks going to Docklands.
Agree.
Essendon, despite no success is still a big drawcard. I’m convinced Essendon is still the biggest club in Victoria behind the Pies. They will come from everywhere the day this club is mildly successful.
Before this, after losing round one, ~46,700 watched them against the Crows and its games at the G against the Pies, Tigers and Blues sold out.
A 5th MCG home game, I predict next year against the Bulldogs will likely draw 50-60,000 in any year Essendon is a chance of playing finals. I say Bulldogs because they lose an MCG home game next year and I think the AFL will reward them for on field magnetism.
5 is better than 4 but not enough. A step in right direction though.
We simply shouldn’t be playing Victorian teams at Docklands.
IMO there shouldn’t even be a stadium agreement on it.
The likes of Collingwood, Richmond & Melbourne, need to play their share of games at Docklands when they are facing interstate teams.
Then use the MCG for Victorian teams to play each other.
If we cant get the full amount at the G then 7 is the absolute most we can do at the G without alienating the Marvel games.
Marvel has its sweet spot for night games and Sunday twilight v interstate opposition in Winter.
Ie Thursday night in 2 weeks time v GWS.
The problem is you also have non-Vic clubs asking for MCG games (even just 1 or 2) per year, and they need to play them against a Victorian club. Non-Vic clubs absolutely have a good case to get at least some MCG exposure every year so long as the MCG is the Grand Final venue.
Coming in from Sunbury, that walk over to the G on a sunny winters day is one of life’s pleasures.
Crossing Punt Rd after a session at THE ROYAL?
BOOBIES
23k at marvel when we’re winning some dead rubber in round 20 >>>> 40k at the g in the same circumstance
marvel 4:40pm until we earn it, imo
Would rather an extra MCG game in September!
You’re preaching to the converted mate.
Don’t get me wrong—Marvel certainly has its place. But in my opinion, it’s dated remarkably quickly, despite the ongoing efforts to improve it. It’s always struck me as a cold, sterile venue—lacking the history and heart that make the ‘G Australia’s premier sporting stadium.
Most Bomber fans will disagree, but I’d take a half empty MCG exposed to the elements over a full Marvel under the roof every time.
One team we should not play at the G is Geelong. If they want to play us at their boutique stadium, then guess what? You get to play at Marvel against us.
Now they’ve finished that toilet bowl of a stadium they should have all home games there. No more pretending they’re half a Melbourne club
Dont like this. Personally think we should only be at telstra dome
