Jackets Dodoro

Dodoro is not responsible for a bad game plan and development system.

He our list ever matches the requirements of the coach’s plan?

Thats stiff Ace. We never saw the 2012/13 list reach full potential because of the saga. Fair to say the saga set us back several years, new coaches, game plans, new club focus/strategies, players mentally cooked etc etc. Cant blame the best part of the last decade on Dodoro

I personally can’t think of any mitigating factors through, say, 2012-2016, which might have had an impact.

Nothing ■■■■■■ me off more than people ignoring the impact of that period when crying about our lack of recent success.

And the pathetic 10 years before that?
We are a club full of excuses

I said nothing about the 10 years before that.

No but it annoys me that every time Dodoro gets criticised it’s not his fault because of the saga, it’s not his fault because of the coaches blah, blah, blah.
The bloke has been at the club forever and hasn’t once built a list capable of getting anywhere near a flag or even win 1 measly final yet it’s always someone else’s fault.
Maybe, just maybe he is part of the problem?

His argument would be the list was primed and then the saga de-railed it losing Carlisle,Ryder etc. Then he built it back and was primed again except Daniher and Fantasia injured and now leaving. Excuses yes, but the club does seem to keep de-railing as soon as they start to build up. Whose fault is that?

I don’t think people are not saying he has no issues, it has been highlighted plenty of times that he has, the issue of whether all the players not playing well is because the list manager can’t pick good recruits is what is being challenged.

I have been vocal in saying it is time for Dodoro to move on, but he isn’t to blame for the club screwing over players during the Saga (and it was a decent list), then not having a game plan that suits the players we have.

It’s also worth mentioning the list has shown it’s very capable when they show up and actually have a crack. There’s plenty of talent there.

We’ve hardly beaten anyone in the past three years. One or two wins a year against other finalists doesn’t imply we have this great list waiting to be untapped. More so we just had a good day. Bit of flat track bullies about the current list.

For starters our faceless President and his board need to go

Our list manager/recruiting guru must go…who the hell gets 18 years before it dawns on the board that he has farked up

Our passive coach should have been sacked and not been allowed to hang around and waste another year

This club is run by a bunch of amateurs, so much so that we cant even keep hold of a Daniher.

This club is massive in name and support only

As a business its sole purpose seems to be a determination to make money. It started with Peter Jackson and Evans who rode on the coat tails of our 2000 premiership and focused on making money at the expense of upgrading facilities and improving the football department

What a shambles!

Changing coach every 2-3 years also very helpful.

There are holes that is for sure. And Dodoro likes his skinny project players over hard bodied players. We have not drafted decent rucks in quite some time and are putting all our eggs in one basket (Draper).

But I think the core group is good and solid, we just need a couple of decent pick ups in both the draft and trade and then, most importantly, get a decent game plan and work rate and it can change quickly.

The core is there, we just need to make it work properly.

I am so wanting something that I am watching the 84 GF on Kayo. Days when we were actually a team that won things.

Imo this is another Blitz “truth” just like he only drafts HBFs or (5 years ago) he only ever drafts talls.
Doesn’t stand up to any scrutiny whatsoever.

He must be the next key domino in the football department to fall. He’s responsible for the list, and right now we have:

  • The worst ruck stocks in the AFL.
  • No big bodied, aggressive midfielders (no, trying to turn Jake Stringer into one doesn’t count).
  • About 25 half-back flankers.
  • No reliable key forwards (I say reliable in Joe, who is a star but now wants to leave, not being able to get on the park the past 2 seasons, James Stewart hasn’t played an AFL game since mid 2018, and Brown/McKernan who have their moments but are not consistent enough.

I don’t get the ranting about 10-15 years ago. “Sorry mate, your performance in 2004 wasn’t up to scratch. Don’t get us wrong, you’ve done well recently, but because of our failures a decade ago we are going to fire you.”

Evans (or probably Hird) to an extent, saw the need to upgrade and spend and they did. But then Evans threw us under the bus and that was that. We had our one shot of something similar to what Gale has done at Richmond and McGuire at Collingwood and we blew. Won’t get another shot like that for 15 or so years
