I don;t think that part is in dispute. The problem is the mix that’s around them, because there doesn’t seem to be any pace in midfield. Like us when Watson, Stanton, Goddard and Heppell were our best mids, we couldn’t afford our other mids to be Hocking, Myers, Howlett types…Melbourne seem to be in exactly that boat.
I must admit I’m not familiar with their youngsters that haven’t yet had much of a go, so maybe they’ve got something to come. But from what they’ve shown in the 1’s, I think they could rise to a 6th/8th spot, but Lever isn’t going to be the difference in getting them any higher than that.
