General Little on the march with the Essendon cotries groups who are pushing to get Hird back.
I don’t agree with this at all, I think Scott, Vozzo Rosa and Barham have been the reason we have the changes that we are now seeing.
And no I don’t agree that if Merret goes that’s the end of Scott Vozzo and Barham.
Merret has not been open and honest about his feelings, and signed an extension just last year. Probably under the guidance of his manager, who would have told him “I can get you out of this contract at anytime”.
Which is deceitful and goes against the best interests of the team and unbecoming of a Captain of said team.

I know people are arguing this but DEFINITELY worse than when Hird left.
We barely have an AFL list.
After Hird/Thompson, there was hope. There were good players and things to look forward to.
Under just three years of Scott, the club is completely munted.
There’s nothing left but the hope that draft picks might help us become somewhat competitive in five years.

You can say that there is talk of a Hird comeback because there always is among some doe eyed supporters who have the romantic notion that he will save us while they conveniently overlook how absurd the suggestion actually is.
But it will never actually happen.
Sounds like a challenge to the board incoming, or not.

Hird was my favourite player, so he should be the coach despite the fact that he already has been the coach, and it didn’t go well.

I very firmly believe that the results of the last three years are a result of the actions over the last three years.
Blaming our current situation on what happened in 2012 is ridiculous.
Merrett played his first game in 2014, ffsFFS.

Looked good in the box at GWS while they got trounced after they sacked Cameron after working there part time.
Screams afl coach in waiting while working part time for a mate at Port Melbourne.

Thats not quite where I was going.
In the Merrett scenario - I think he’d have been okay if we weren’t going so well for 3 years but theres a compounding effect of everything over time. Multiple coaching changes, game plans, losing his mates in JD and Raz first then the others etc. I’d add, if previous regimes nailed the Perkins, Reid, Cox picks as well as some others…
I think all of that takes a toll.
personally this last 3 years has felt a lot like many of the years that proceeded it.
The names change but the results are kind of the same.

Seriously though, Hird and Sheedy are not the same proposition.
I’m a Hird fan and think he would have been an excellent coach except for extreme circumstances but his time has been and gone. If a coach was appointed that Hird had a good working relationship with was such as Buckley, I’d love to see him in some capacity back at the club. For now thou, Scott is fine and Hird should give him space. Not that I think he wouldn’t anyway.
