On record saying when Brad Scott came I thought he was our next premiership coach but now my opinion is we need to restore pride back in the place and I think Hirdy is the one to do it, its my view and I understand yours too but seriously when other clubs are openly poaching your contracted players and your captain no doubt , we just cant not try something , we are a laughing stock. I honestly dont care if Hirdy coaches us to a premiership, of course I would love that but I just want some pride and respect in the club again.

I think in AFL and probably most professional sport you only earn respect from winning. Sounds harsh but even if you finish 2nd place continually you’ll be ridiculed.

Given Menzie played the last game this year even though his papers were definitely stamped by then, I neither like the process, nor am I sure that Scott is even aware of it.

This is just so typical of Essendon the last 15 years. As soon as the heat rises and the club is challenged hard, the media go for blood and the Board eventually quivers and sacks a coach. This just can’t happen again now!
Yes, we’re making slow progress and the club isn’t going as smoothly as the Board or fans would like but we can’t just sack another coach and start again. It woukd be a repeat of a cycle of failure that has become culture at Essendon.
This group needs the next 12 months to try and establish what they’ve started, albeit with lots of lumps and bumps. It’s been only 3 years. It’s ridiculous. The expectations just don’t marry up with reality.
God almighty if this club has another Board coup, coach sacking and review.. Back to the drawing board once again.
