My concern is what happens to the players when a new coach comes in who doesn't know the situation other than what they have read in the media?Will the players EVER truly believe the coach ‘knows’ they are innocent. Or will the new coach pull the ‘past is in the past and I don’t care’ speech which is a cop out.
I just don’t see how this helps the players to lose their biggest, most vocal, supporter through this whole mess.
Board divided, supporters divided, players divided and we haven’t even got the appeal results. This leaves one almighty mess. So Paul Little wants to stay until after the appeal to transition ‘properly’ but Hird has to go this week?! Ya… seems real fair. So what paul, you needed another 6 months to screw the players over again at CAS? What deal will you bend over and take this time? more sanctions… how about you get them 6 year bans and then tell us you had no options…

For 50 years I have supported and been obsessed with this football club,I have been a member in excess of 30 years.
The AFL has been dead to me for the last 3 years. Essendon Football Club has died for me today.

There is another resigination coming soon from what is being bandied around right now…Paul Little is next apparently. When? I’m not sure, but word is he is also on his way out too. That is one resignation I won’t be upset about.
Hird was an easy target for the media. For those thinking they won’t put extra effort into the club in general will be surprised. They’ll still pot the club and Hird will remain a target.

it says something when the man himself who is losing more than any of us who love the club equally, has more dignity and class still towards the club than some of the supporters in here so far.

For the time being I’ll take Hirds word for it that things unfolded the way HE DESCRIBED and back in he has the best interests of the club at heart certainly above again alot of supposed supporters in here.
Not that it needed to be questioned but it shows how deep his love for the club goes, that he’d be willing to remove himself from the situation under the belief it would help the players and club move forward.
total respect for the man and love for the club, not that I ever doubted he had it, and want to thank him for wanting to come back and try and help the club out in a time of need.
Sadly as he says just cos you want to achieve something, doesn’t mean you will, just gotta keep on trying and moving forward.
some people who “claim” they love the club should take a good long hard look at how the man himself handles well himself, then look in the mirror to see how far short your actual love for this club falls in comparison to his love for it.

ASADA I could believe - even though they’d taken the deal off the table. WADA couldn’t give a shizen, they’ve got ASADA’s money, they’re gunna spend it.
The board made a decision and chose to pull the pin. I don't see an issue with that. But now I hope some of those said board members have the good sense to walk out the door as well.I am kind of relieved for Hird and his family, he can have some quiet family time and get out of the spotlight.

The continual them and message Hird was pushing was also important.It’s all about the players. They need some space to perform. He wants the club to be successful and for supporters to continue turning up to games and enjoying the game again.
I hate it has occurred in this way and would have liked him to go out after completing the year, but the decision he made and the questions he asked of the board were very important and needed to be answered to give the players the best chance to get some clear fresh air and allow them to get the best out of themselves.

All of you wanting to give up your memberships should see this video…and hand on to those memberships.
Yeah, I’m not making any kneejerk decisions about my membership right now and I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of it because I’ll always love our players, even if I despise the lily-livered board. But I can perhaps see myself cutting out some of the extraneous stuff I had on it and maybe even downgrading. But I’ll wait until the end of the year before I make any decisions. Maybe by the time the season rolls around next year I’ll be able to summon up some interest again but geez, it’s going to be tough.
