James Hird — Sept 25 onwards

It wasn’t the coaching that precipitated the suicide attempt, it was the relentless media pile-on. Hird’s obviously in a much better place now. My guess is that he’s mentally stronger than ever and if he feels he can handle the rigors of being a senior coach then I’ll trust his judgement.

One of the most compelling reasons for Hird supporters to encourage a second chance is the disgusting treatment James received during the saga. It’s the media that needs to be both shamed and changed. James Hird should not be labeled as, “Do not reemploy”.

Persecution is not too harsh a term for what Hird experienced. This is a justice issue. He has - coaching talent, has done his time (be it ever so unjust) and is well.

Having lost a daughter, bullied to suicide, had she recovered and not succumbed, I’d hope Society would have helped her be restored to continue in her chosen career.

No, I don’t think Whateley is a godfather, quite the opposite: I think he’s a slimy POS. As for the board, they will consider the environment that the media has created if Hird does return because if it fails, it would be a cataclysmic outcome for the board. And the media, including Whateley have set the tone for what failure looks like.

What footy club have you coached and don’t believe everything you read in the media.

but the simply fact is, a ruthless club that’s attempting to build a good culture, doesn’t allow or pick a coach based on warm fuzzy feels and emotions relating to supposed redemption and the like.
and like it or not, a ruthless club doesn’t pick the tippa, to bring one or 2 games for a year, and sets the culture and standards back, whilst trying to build a fitter, living the afl lifestyle mantra.

maybe it’s time for a ruthless club, to stand up to a past playing champion and tell him, if you aren’t willing to go and do an apprenticeship, just like everyone else in the comp, you are simply not qualified to begin with, and a ruthless and culture driven club again is not run of a catch cry of a ■■■■■■■ movie from the 90’s in the castle and just want to run the club on mabo.

Would you have played the 4 Danihers together DKP?

To me, being a ruthless club is telling the media, AFaiL and all the haters to GF, and we will do what we want to do, and what we believe will be the best for our club…whatever/whoever we decide to appoint as coach.

Scott’s resume included

Tell us why you don’t like Hird. Stop making up reasons.

you’ve made your point, several times.

As soon as we took Steinberg over Parker…

And it’s your right to mislabel the attributes of a team, while giving a damn fine demonstration of the word you so haughtily think you alone know how to use.

The board should all walk if the next appointment doesn’t work and state that they will

That sounds more like a nightmare.

James Hird has held an elite AFL Level 4 Coaching Accreditation which under the revamped AFL framework transitions to and is recognized as a Gold Tier coaching status.
