We need new royal box at Essendon. Hird has a place in it but not on the helm.

The best thing Hird could do for Essendon is convince Toby Greene to come us.
Toby is cooked as all cooked, been pathetic this year and was poor 2 years ago as well.
He hasn’t hit the scoreboard as much, but has been playing more midfield after Green did his knee.
He would comfortably be in our best 10 players.
As would 90% of league players
Greene would be brilliant for culture and standards, regardless of on-field contribution. Get him.
I still question the process that led to Brad Scott’s appointment. While we did use a selection panel in the end, it followed a chaotic and botched attempt at headhunting.
The board failed miserably in their late play for Alastair Clarkson—pursuing him while Ben Rutten was still contracted and left in professional limbo. When that fell through, they made a desperate approach to Ross Lyon, who rejected the club almost immediately.
Then there’s the fact that Hird was even considered as an option.
We completely fell off a cliff every season he coached us. Injuries or saga or whatever excuse his team fell apart late in the season 11, 12, 13, 15.

Dunno the stats just going on the eye test, I watch all Giants games coz my mate in western Sydney is new to footy, so trying to help him understand it all. Well knew as in a few years in. He has no speed and agility now and no impact. Not as cooked as Coniglio but still a bit of a liability this year and in 2024.
Still in 2024 his goal tally 44 would have won Essendons goal kicking award.

I didn’t think he had a great year, one of the reasons they didn’t back up their 23 form was Toby wasn’t as damaging as previous years. I think he had a new born baby in 24 and he admitted himself it affected his form.
