I actually find some of their assessments quite useful but unfortunately, unlike the clubs we get very little access to a lot of the stats to complete an informed opinion.
A lot like to throw the Champion Data predictions back in their faces when they don’t come true but the reality is all clubs use this data to form their game plans and over the past ten or more years clubs like Hawthorn, Western bulldogs and Richmond have used it to predict what the rest of the competition is doing and formulate a gameplan to counteract it.
I think people are naive if they believe stats have no part to play in the AFL.
You actually put cripps and watson in the same arguement by saying cripps only gets contested hard ball and handballs it out. Thats exactly what watson did before his twilight years. Period.
Again youre using champion data which everyone knows is stupidity. There are players ranked in above average that you would argue are elite and players that are elite that you wouldnt say are elite. Like i said earlier to you champion data is bogus😂
They ranked tippa & fantasia as elite iirc last year.
People use stats dont get me wrong, but they dont use champion data. The club have their own that i know for a fact & other clubs are jumping on board with it. You honestly reckon they sit there and just use champipn data? I can tell you that is not the case at all
Well that is exactly what jobe did so im not sure how i am under selling him at all. He eventually became more of a goal kicker near the end of his career
Has to be a combination of both. They’ll have to field their best 26 or so at some time during these JLT games to test how the expected lineups work together in a real match. After last year’s start we need to make sure they understand how to play together.
To me he’s on the level of Jobe under Knights. great clearance player - and not much more.
He needs to do more with the ball to go into the absolute top group. Which Jobe did when Hird took over, backing himself to take guys on, backing his kicking.
Not saying he won’t or can’t do that, but he hasn’t yet.
10th at Carlton - on that list of turkeys!!! - for metres gained per game.
Mick McGuane’s thoughts on him are worth a listen too. Reckons his defensive running is well below par. He’s coached a long time, in and out of the AFL.
