JLT1 vs FCFC Thursday 28th Feb Ikon Park 6.45. Go Bombers!

Well, it does appear that Brown may be in front of Smack and Stewart. If true, not many had predicted that.

I’m surprised, but not unhappy. Brown works very hard and is a reliable set shot.

Clear best 22 players missing? I see Bellcho, Hooker, Fanta and perhaps Myers. Any others?

Marty is still weeks away but when fit he’s best 22

Good team- pleased for Longy- it’s a big chance for him & I don’t imagine he’ll get too many this year.
Any idea why Myers is not playing?

He doesn’t need to protect the kids, as we are playing a team of kids this week.

Even though it’s a pre-season game, why does seeing Merrett, Langford, Parish and McGrath all starting in the midfield make me so giddy?

Nord VPN, its the Skyns of the internet

Yep. The two midfielders on the half forward flanks is an interesting choice.

Should that be the intent for the season proper, then I think Bags opportunities are going to be fewer than I thought.

And yes, imagine with me what happens if we have the luxury of playing that group of players as our first choice centre square, and they can hold their own. Heaven help other sides B-team.

That’s what you do with a Kyle Langford!

It’s going to be exciting watching the young mids take the midfield reins. If Hep, Merrett and Smith are on limited minutes McGrath, Parish and Langford are going to get a lot of minutes to impress.
(I need a shorter name to refer to them as I’m always quoting them together - McLangrish?)

I think the listed back 3 (Ambrose, Hartley and Long) also have a lot to prove. Although different roles I think we can adjust our structure to play one of them in the first few rounds. Ridley also in this mix.

Good luck to Shiel, Clarke and Jok donning the sash for the first time.

Agreed. Mitch Brown was very solid. Deserves the spot. Stewart is great depth, they both actually are.

Im keen to see long. I know he hasnt set the world on fire one bit but he has done okay when in the team. People get kept in for far less than what he does. Obviously i dont expect him to cement a spot, but just keen to see improvement from him.

Probably only going to play 1 JLT so had to miss one of them.

Don’t think we should read too much into it.

Jok #46 in AFL record

No he’s not. He’s only really had a patch of 8 or 10 weeks at the end of 2017 when he showed form that may have made him best 22 in this team. Considering how long he’s been out now, he needs to knock the door down again from the two’s for at least a month.

It will be very interesting to see Long. It seems he’s basically rated the 3rd best small defender of the guys that are available. I’m not sure if that is a good sign for him or a bad sign for our small defender depth.

I hope it’s the former and he really shows something

I prefer him to McNiece.

That’s not saying much though.
