Bias confirmation at its best… @Finding_Nino was simply stating an opinion that fark Carlton, because of their game against the Hawks, is better placed to win as they’re more match hardened.
Anyway, with temp hovering around 35 at kick off the heat will be oppressive. Will be interesting to see how the boys cope. Still, expect a strong showing even though the strength of the team will be compromised because player minutes will be managed… 3-5 goal win
A study of almost 60 years of results has shown that football players and football teams that wear red shirts win more matches.
It was discovered that the color red subconsciously boosts the player’s confidence and affects their opponents as well.
The results were surprising. Regardless of experience or winning record, teams that wore red win more than they lose. Their discovery proves the importance of the color and how it is associated with success.
I agree with you, but I also agree with Wim on the assumption that our players will find their touch pretty quickly if not tonight. It’s a pre-season game, to help us find that touch.
It’s hard to explain, but I want to see that we look like a well coached side, that we have a plan, that we are “hard at it”, that we look fit, I want us to look unstoppable, not flukey.
I want to see us utilising our hyped up players. I wanna see Saad/McKenna breaking the lines from half back, I wanna see Shiel show he’s worth 2 first round picks, I want Daniher to remind us how good he was and that we need him in the side. Tippa’s meant to be fitter than ever - let’s see how quick and hard he can play.
I also want our “young-brigade” (esp. Langford, McGrath, Frances, Parish) to show they aren’t just developing/emerging, I want to see that they are great players NOW and not just “good for their age” etc. I will be happy if we don’t have to make excuses for size or inexperience.
Having said all that, I know I’m asking a lot - but that’s what I’ll be looking for.
So much hype - are we really contenders? Tonight is the first challenge, let’s see…
I just want them to have a good hitout, not go overly hard, not get injured, stick to the game plan consistently, trust in each other, and disregard the scoreboard. Step it up a notch next practice game.
This morning I had a chat about the game to one of the FC football analysts, a guy called Brent Manson (yes yes, instaban etc). Would’ve preferred to chat with one of our analysts, but you take what you can get. He was saying how excited they are about Walsh - arrived at the club like a 10 year veteran, an excellent leader already, amazing athlete, superstar footballer. With all the talk here about Cripps it might actually be Sam Walsh who proves to be a bigger thorn in our side.
Anyway I’m going to approach this game like I approach every pre-season match. I’ll spend the hours leading up to the bounce telling myself the result doesn’t matter, then once the game starts it’ll be like my life is riding on it.
This might be ban-worthy too but i’m really looking forward to seeing this Walsh kid play. There has been so much hype around him. Good luck to him. Shame his team is going to lose by 15 goals.
