Yep, the Music scene is the one thing it’s always had going for it.
Only reason I venture down for the past decade plus now, … other than the footy.

Can you please refrain from derailing the Adelaide superiority / Coffee / Greek food thread, champ?
Ta.
Oh i could smash a gyros/kebab.
Melbourne is freakin’ awesome.
I have always lived in Melbourne. To be honest, everywhere else is a ■■■■ hole compared to Melbourne.

Second the motion.
Sadly there will be no music scene after this covid. Has been dying a slow death for past 20 years this had just euthanised it
I used to go to gigs a bit, but not anymore. I’ve found that many venues are now almost entirely staffed and patronised by too-cool-for-school hipsters who I find are deeply unfriendly to anyone who doesn’t have an ironic haircut, lots of tattoos or the appropriate uniform. I’d cite the Corner Hotel as a good example of this (crab refurb, too).

Pizza by the metre.
I’ve spent a lot of time at the Corner and had a shitload of ripper nights. Good mates, plenty of beers, great bands. The staff will come and go, don’t let them be your concern.
I saw buskers a few weeks ago at the farmers markets. First live music I’d seen and heard in ages. It was great. Hahaha.
Pretty psyched at the amount of people who disengage from the 'Melbourne’s great ‘cos it’s Melbourne!’ wankfest that only knobs fall for.

That is my biggest concern about all this too.
But it’s had it’s challenges before and always bounced back.
I reckon it will again.
I hope it does too. I’ve been a professional musician since 1994 . I’ve had 265 gigs cancelled this year and now next years are looking shaky.
A world tour or greek weddings?
Alot of people love it and good for them. But the idea that it is the faultless and people are crazy to leave is false.
For alot of people, depending on their interests, it falls well short and food/cafe culture isnt a strong sell.
I like places other people might hate, because I like some things others might not.
Took me ages to find good coffee when I moved to Adelaide… Still looking.
Adelaidians idea of coffee is heated milk poured over a shot of coffee.
I think the place on main North road (if I have my roads right, and if the place is still there) is the best in Adelaide
After Bruce spudded it up today, will they throw their hat in the ring for Daniher?
Just boring covers gigs . Crown mostly
It was on its way! That place is Luigi’s, on Franklin St. it was lovely, so was the coffee.
My local coffee shops are Devour and Karma and Crow, both in Richmond. Third Time Lucky on Henley Beach Road is also great. The barista there one a national award a couple of years back. Coffee by the Bean close to that is also excellent.
In the city my favourite is Sazon. They also have a shop at Hahndorf. Cibo is boring, so I don’t recommend those. Down south I’m not sure as I never go there.
My favourite brunch spot is Whistle and Flute.
There are heaps.
Thats cute that you call the middle of Adelaide a city.
