You think the food is good, wait until you hear the music and see the dancing!

And wine by the litre.

 Melbournes best export is Dan Murphys. 1 litre wines are everywhere now.

I dunno which one you mean but they’ve opened up a Cafe De Vili’s on Main North Road now which is pretty exciting for people on that side of town.

Oh. I thought you were referring to a Carlton establishment.

I think this is fair. Melbourne has lots of positive qualities, and plenty of people like it, but you can say that about thousands of cities around the world. The “this is the greatest City in world” stuff is clearly just parochialism. Good city, with plenty of good stuff, but any “greatest City” stuff only considers each person’s personal experiences.

Sure, if you have a city house in (insert somewhere nice and central), as well as a beach house and a mountain house, then it’s great. But there’s plenty of people who are servicing a massive mortgage while being stuck on the Westgate for 15 hours + a week.

Hmmmm, I think I was thinking of the Coffee Barun or something. Tbh it’s probably 18 months since I was there, and my Adelaide coffee experience is pretty limited but this was pretty good. Certainly better than Cibo, or Bakery on OConnell.

Melbourne is freakin’ awesome.

Sydney’s harbour is amazing, and The Rocks is a brilliant area, but the actual CBD is total pants and the sprawl is utterly ridiculous.
It’s a very good city. Don’t get me wrong.
But bloody hell, you think Melbourne’s expensive?

Yeah Sydney is much more expensive, but for me, where I lived in Sydney, the lifestyle was heaps better.

But it suits me more. I liked it more rhan Melbourne. I dont think I went to the CBD once in 5 years. Though it certainly wouldnt suit everyone.

I LOVE Sydney CBD. But I like Melbourne inner city suburbs more than the Sydney ones.

But I am happy with my hometown too and very glad I moved back.

Thanks mate… big road…

Really?
I found it filthy and desolate.

Spot on

Not really the best judge then?

I stayed there for a month at the expense of work and I had a ball.

Id say I am a good judge, i lived there. The CBD wasnt part of my life, nor is it part of many Sydney siders lives. Same as for alot of people in Melbourne.

There is more to a city than the CBD.

It’s funny, people talking about the glory days of Melbourne 25 years ago.

I thought Melbourne was filthy, and more than just a little unsafe back then.
Every second shop was closed.

It’s a friggin’ Mecca now.
