The issue is that Joe Rogan contracted Covid, and was medically prescribed Ivermectin as treatment. It’s not like he’s short of a few quid and was skimping on his medical care either. Ivermectin is a dangerous drug - and has to be done under close medical supervision (which he could afford) - and it proved effective in Joe Rogan’s case.
CNN then tried to smear him for it - but he pointed out it was medically prescribed. Then there was that infamous episode where he took CNNs medical advisor to task on air - who had to admit Joe wasn’t wrong to follow medical advice. But CNN doubled down anyway with their smears of him (given it’s political). After that Joe kind of went out swinging after that and started to get more extreme about it…
I don’t look at it as Neil Young’s ultimatum not working; just him sticking to his values. All power to him to pull his music from a platform with ethics he disagrees with.
I believe they are still in the process of removing it.
"A Spotify spokesperson said in an emailed statement that the company agreed to remove Young’s work, though it was still accessible to users Wednesday afternoon. Spotify said it regrets Young’s decision but hopes “to welcome him back soon.”
“We want all the world’s music and audio content to be available to Spotify users,” the streaming service said. “With that comes great responsibility in balancing both safety for listeners and freedom for creators. We have detailed content policies in place and we’ve removed over 20,000 podcast episodes related to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.”"
