Courtney Johns, number 21.
Bit premature but I also love the jumper number game.
There are going to be some premium numbers up for grabs for the first time in a long time.
Looks almost certainly 2 and 9 will be available and then very likely two or three of 3, 4, 5, 8, 11, 15 depending on how trade period/FA goes.
You would think both Johnson and Clarke are going to get upgraded but will be interesting to see how it all unfolds.
The way we are going, we will have Liam McMahon in #2, Luamon Lual in #3, Lachlan Blakiston in #4 and Oskar Smartt in #5.
Can’t we fill #1 with anybody else
Goldstein one of the best ever 17s.
17 is my fav number. Have we ever had a good payer wear it? I cant think of one.
I recommend we either blank #8 next year or keep Hobbs for another year so we can move Kobe Bewick straight in.
Might have to be 2 years…it’s the 2027 draft isn’t it?
Daryl Gerlach (1965 flag, even though he wore #2 in the GF due to VFL having copyright over the numbers and the Sun breached the copyright)
Steve Carey
And @bugman5’s best ever, Judd Lalich.
I was just looking at historical numbers and found that there was a previous Archie Roberts that played for the bombers in the 1930s!
Judd Lalich’s first kick in AFL went out on the full.
Judd Lalich’s second kick in AFL went out on the full.
There were games (or was a game) where Judd’s time in the ruck turned the game for us…it seems like more than one because of how buggy went on about it.
Would love to see Duz move to 2. Stanton had 3 numbers!
Harley Ried #5
Kieran Sporn
There was a time - ca. 1965 - when 23 was the most coveted number in the men’s side.
I wonder how Roberts feels being given Heps number - 21 is such a bad number lol
I would expect Caddy will take one of the under 10 numbers, he has been on record he wants a lower number. Could see him in 5…
Johnson upgrade, could see him in 2.
A vaunted number worn by Ross Higgins, Les Stillman, Grant Fowler, Peter Cransberg, Rene Kink.
Thread needs an updated name.
Might I suggest ‘Jumper numbers for 2026’?
Ken Fraser…
With an enviable record as a student of Essendon history, I’m shocked that you’ve omitted Ken Fraser.
