Yeah i agree North were very good for a half against Melbourne was always going to be a tough game. Yep the overall performance was much better then last week.
Yep reckon winning the close games is good practice for a young side will be handy to have that ablity if we become a good side.

I think Fremantle’s 100 point demolition of West Coast is a good reminder of how we’re going beating them by 1 point on our home ground. I can only imagine the lid off’s if we ever beat a side by 100 points.

North came to play yesterday I’ll give them that. I thought they would get up. Good to see Baldwin play a very solid game and the kids get good midfield minutes. Martin was the clear BOG also.
I am still incredibly disappointed with our small forwards. It does make me wonder how much sturdier our defence would be if our small forwards could put an ounce of pressure on and not allow easy footy to bounce out of our forward 50. I personally thought guelfi had a deadset nightmare. His last qtr, although he stepped up, probably still doesn’t cut it for me. We desperately need to beef up this area of the ground. You don’t need the greatest talent to put pressure on and be at the fall of the ball. There are a number of teams with small forwards who on paper, don’t have much footy talent, but geez they work hard. I’d argue that’s our biggest area of concern.
In terms of priorities, I’d argue for the following:
- small forwards (only Menzie so far I would be happy continuing with from our 22 yesterday)
- CHF
- Big bodied mid
- CHB
- good ball user off half back

Go to the state leagues and get 2-3 strong mature bodies. just some really strong mature depth players - mid to late 20s who for different reasons just haven’t cracked the big time.
Change the feel of the locker room and get all all our lightweight skilled young boys in the gym in the off season.

Where I was seated there were fkn Roos fans everywhere. Maybe it clouded my judgement.
Walking into the stadium it was 1 north fan to about 10 Essendon fans.

I reckon apart from the North cheer squad area on Level 1 and their members area on the Docklands side (Level 1), it was red & black heavy at every other part of the ground.

Well … yes it was … then … but not any more.
When a team is out of form, and full of injuries and messing around with positional changes … yes it’s an accurate reflection … at a point in time.
Not only do we deserve to be vying for finals but we are above ‘our shoot don’t stink’ Geelong’!!! Despite them playing so many games down at sleepy hollow.
I get they are a far superior team to ours right now but they have Hawkins Smith Danger Toohey ready to retire

They have been falling off the cliff for 10 years but somehow hang to the edge and are as sure footed as a mountain goat so never actually tip over the edge.
Knowing them they will bring in Parish this year, King or Naughton next year and convince any good player under 25 in the comp that because they were born within 200km’s of Geelong they are locals and rebuild on the fly.
I can’t wait for the day that they do a North but I fear I’ll be waiting forever
