Ladder Predictor - what's your verdict? Do we make the finals?

We play GWS in about 12-24 days time and Sydney roughly a month away.

Hopefully GWS aren’t switched on fully vs GC this round also

Presumably Greater Western Sydney will also appreciate a mounted police presence to check they’re following team rules.
So could go either way.
They buy into Leon’s game plan, or they can’t stop socialising.

If we win every game bar the Dogs I can see is getting Sydney at the SCG. With our good percentage we could possibly drop 2 games and still scrape in, the GWS game is a genuine 8 pointer

Ralph said that it doesn’t impact GWS as much but Swans have a number of players with wives/kids.

Used Buddy as an example. His wife gave birth recently and he hasn’t been home with her for 3 or so weeks at this point. .

What if the whole afl just took 2 weeks off? Gives time to shield and cadwell to get back in?

We will win next week and still won’t be playing finals.

We needed to win one of the Melbourne or Geelong games

If we go 5 of 6 from here we make it

One of those games would have been nice but the simple facts are we win 5 of our last 6 we almost certainly play finals and could scrape in with as little as 4 of our last 6.
Will we make it, most probably not but it won’t be because we lost to Melbourne or Geelong. The loss to the Hawks wil come back to haunt us and needed to split results on Sydney

Watch us beat the Bulldogs and lose to the Suns or something hahaha :stuck_out_tongue:

Agreed but we won’t win 4 of our last 6…we are a young side on a rebuilding path.

Id has it a guess 3 of our last 6 will be a tough task.

IF we can win our next 2 (IF)

And get to 9-9 with an already healthy percentage… then it’s going to be totally in our hands.

We will start warmish favourites against North and I reckon the Giants game is 50/50 at the moment, especially given the venue.

I don’t think we will make it as I said above (and I’m fine with that… this year) … but it’s pretty difficult to believe we are even having this discussion considering the preseason predictions of utter gloom.

Then we truly don’t deserve to make it.
You won’t get an easier draw to finish the season.
I too suspect we will drop 2 or 3 of the remaining games due to fatigue but they have a good opportunity to launch a finals crack if they can freshen up a touch

Speaking on SEN Essendon youngster Will Snelling believes his side are still well in hunt for September action.

“We’re pretty bullish, pretty excited, we’ve got a lot of home games and games in Melbourne,” Snelling said.

“We’ve got a lot left and we can definitely challenge.”

Despite coming off losses to Melbourneand Geelong, Snelling remains optimistic.

“Our best footy will take any team to the last quarter.

With exception of Dogs game IMO which is a tough ask we should absolutely be able to be in a position to win every other game

It’s all about the GWS and Sydney games.

Win both of them, and it’s on.

We only lost to them both by a kick up in Sydney earlier in the year. And by the time we play them, both sides could have been in Melbourne and away from home for 4-5 weeks. They are both more than gettable.

The last finals spot is ours if we really want it.

Rest Hooker next week needs it badly…

Gleeson to play again for Heppell

Including the Dogs we will be in a position aswell.
We haven’t won all season multiple games in a row, plus we are looking tired
Last night’s game was about Adelaide, play like that against Swans or GWS we won’t win.

Still I’m not concerned about finals this year, although we won’t make it anyway the year we have had has been fantastic and next year we should be much better poised to make an assualt in the top 8

We beat Fremantle, North & WC over 3 wk period. And the game preceding that vs GWS lost by 2points. It could have been a 4 game streak there.

Easy to talk down last nights Crows output but we also dominated Cats for inside 50’s

That’s not a tired team.

And if we are there is a 9 day break coming up. Playing North off a much shorter break and a red eye flight home from Perth Monday night

The players have confidence in running Dees to 2 goals and the Cats performance that just needed to capitalise more on forward entries they can take it up to anyone

If you’d rather think of reasons why we won’t win go for your life however.

I much rather prefer to think of why we could/will as per Snellings comments.

I was very pleased too see Perkins and Cox play the way they did last night. They definitely set the tone, especially Perkins who finally gets his nomination!

He is a ripper.

Entries mean nothing without conversion, so we need to change up our forwardline, Hooker needs to be rested, plus he is carrying an injury after last night. I would like to see Wright take onboard more responsibilty, he tends to be that type of player.

Rotate Draper and he for ruck/forward duties.

I would like to see a glimpse of the future next weekend.

We will beat North that’s a given, GWS are coming on nicely as too are Swans. I just can’t see us winning both those games, unless we rest Hooker an give Heppell another week.

Hopefully Shiel is back for the Swans game aswell

We don’t need to be in the finals this year. Save it for next year. I couldn’t bear idiots continuing to say ‘out in the first round’ again. Bring on 2022.
