HELLO DARKNESS MY OLD FRIEND

eh, we are not going to beat the suns twice, including the delayed game.
Hmmmm
Hi!
The andy mcgrath thread says hes gonna take the game by the scruff of the neck @ hbf.
I feel so tired following this club. My greatest (footy related) fear is that by the time we are actually any good that every ounce of fanaticism and tribal connection to the club will have dissipated totally to the point where the success brings very little joy anyway.
Happy Monday.
Is this a thread for THE FANS?
I think it is more likely that we are simply dead by the time that happens.
That is also another strong possibility. In which case I definitely wouldnât be feeling anything.
Our forward line is like the Israeli iron dome. Nothing much gets through. Just the occasional one that doesnt do any damage
Itâs bucketing down, best to go LID ON.
You mean every backline our forwards play in like an iron dome?
No balls get through.
It will just all come rushing back.
You canât purge supporting Essendon from your blood stream.
Itâs just in there.
A better analogy might be like a scud missile we rarely hit a target
In English soccer teams never get near the Premier League yet the fans keep supporting. Of the teams that make the Premier League promotion is likely the greatest excitement- 7 different clubs have won since its inception in 1992.
5 AFL clubs have been tenants of Docklands since 2001. Only one of those teams has won a premiership in that period (about 120 seasons). Admittedly our ability not to win a final since 2004 is statistically phenomenal.
We have a club that has combined instability and ingrained poor results. Do we go for stability even though there are still many poor outcomes, or risk more insatibility in the name of improving outcomes?
Continued failure sometimes means fanaticism and tribal connection are all we have. Remember we got Shiel instead of the Blues? Or when Durham won Dreamtime as the Tigers declined? Maybe the misery even increases that desperate connecton when thereâs nothing else- itâs not like a bunch of theatregoers are turning up to our matches. We are playing the kids. Try to enjoy the little things.
Just consider yourself âfreed from the shackles of the corporate machine that is the AFLâ.
Get out there and live rather than being forever bound by the AFL fixture.
Or something
Are you sure this shouldnât be in the lid off thread?
