im not fussed on the Perkins, Cox, Tsatas’, im more concerned with El~Hawli, Edwards, Blackiton’s. These are mid season or non traditional additions who have not locked down best 23 spots. If by years end are still not guaranteed, then they need to be in the firing line.

Pretty sure that wasn’t the case.
He did want to get home eventually but my understanding is that the club pretty much didn’t offer him an extension until after they had signalled their intention to chase McKay. He saw the writing on the wall.
I also believe we low balled him

hes not shown in 10 seasons one iota of being that guy, what makes you think this other than he just plays for us so i want him to be good?

Hawks wanted him the same year we did, 2023. They were the ones to push our salary offer up.
and we should’ve walked away, the point is mckay is a horrifically underwhelming player we’ve given mutliple millions of dollars to. avoid the point as much as you want.
I thought Ben’s first year with us was pretty good. I know not everyone is a stats person, but he was 15th per AFl player ratings amongst key defenders that year. Top 10 for intercept marks and contested marks.
He’s massively regressed, for whatever reasons. Statistically, he’s been one of the worst key defenders in the league for the last two years. And is worse than what he was at North.
I never wanted him but I don’t disagree with this. Is there a senior player who hasn’t regressed this year? Maybe Redman. Actually, Wright.
McGrath has been very solid pre injury.

Generally premiership teams have a core elite group of players say 6 to 10 players and rest are foot soldiers who give everything to the course.
Hawthorn - Hodge, Mitchell, Buddy, Roughead, Lewis, Rioli, Bruest, Gunston and Burgoyne
Richmond - Martin, Riewoldt, Cotchin, Rance, Rioli and Houli.
Can the following guys are able to get to the elite level.
Caddy, Roberts, Kako, May, Robey, Sharpe, Farrow, HVH? (& Zach Reid - losing hope this year). That’s all it takes. We have lots of foot soldier like Durham, Caldwell etc.

Per AFL player ratings, it’s a bit of a mixed bag.
- this is Parish’s best year since 2023
- Merrett is slightly down on previous levels
- Langford is better than last year, but one of his worst years since 2018
- hard to judge Redman as he’s only played 4 games
- this is Perkins best ever year
- this is Prior’s best ever year
- this is Caldwell’s worst year since 2021
- this is Duursma’s worst year since coming to the club
- McKay and Reid are massively down
- McGrath has been consistent with previous output
- Duz is down from the previous two years.

He played last year off zero preseason and then got injured. I’d hoped a clear run this year would see him return to his 2024 form but confidence is shot. I’m sure the team performance hasn’t helped.

I just watched a McDonand-Tipungwuti compilation and am flabbergasted as to how when he left the team, Essendon decided they didn’t want a small forward anymore.

Watching Toby Greene starring against the Dees. If he wants to come back to Victoria, we should throw the chequebook at him to have him come and steel up our midfield and forward structures. He’s got the sort of hard arsed mongrel attitude we’re so sorely missing. Hird as coach wouldn’t hurt our chances getting him either.
