He’s on good money and his contract already takes him through to 32. 3 more seasons.
His contract likely would have been front loaded.
Sun’s need some genuine leadership in their defence. They’ve got some good youngsters who need someone to mentor them and Hurley would be a good guy for them to target. They won’t though, they’ll go after some flashy outside type like they always do.
Guys like Hurley and Hooker just won’t look to leave, nor should we suggest they do. Contracts go two ways.

Yeah I can see Ridley, Langford or Laverde being poached or looking for opportunities.
Hopefully they stay because Myers, baguley, Dea, Long, Mcneice, houlahan, Jok, Mutch and possibly a few more are not Going to make an impact in our future.

I would think that if we end the season on a positive note (still a big if, if you allow for the fact that we are all a little "lid off’ at the moment), Hurley and Hooker (and Zaka & Hepp) would be thinking this is their big chance to have some success before they finish.
I don’t think they would be looking to move.
A guy on Big Footy who claims to have had a source tell him about Shiel, is saying GC is interested in Hurley. I’d have mixed feelings on it. Out of our blue chip players, he’s probably one we could afford to lose, but I wouldn’t be thrilled seeing him play elsewhere.

Yes, they become free agents. But I’m not sure if you can add a FA to the rookie list. I think they can only be added to the main list.
Really good point, and forgot about that. So effectively the Draper ‘upgrade’ is for free, and doesn’t cost a slot. Gives us more flexibility.

Houlahan clubhouse leader over Mutch for the 3rd - possibly both, and to be rookied. Neither done a ton wrong, just haven’t done much.
Pretty much a complete clearout of the rookie list, Draper should go up to the main list, ZLarke retained, Jok/Dea/Long gone.

I actually think Houlahan is more likely to make it than Mutch. I’d be flicking both though.
Mutch was in the AFL side before he got injured, and has hardly been on the park since. I think saying he hasn’t done much is a little unfair. Similarly, why delist Jok? He’s mostly been injured (so I’ve seen little of him), but if they thought he was good enough last year, he should be this year.
Mynott is a rookie, and I very much doubt we’ll be delisting him.
Long is on the main list, and I agree with delisting him. Agree on Myers and Bags.
Unless we can find a better #3 ruck, who is willing to join us knowing that Draper is probably Belly’s successor, then I doubt we’ll get rid of Zlarke.
