Brent Harvey was inducted in his first year of eligibility.
Michael Tuck was in 1999, after finishing in 1991.
AFL HOF commenced in 1996
Is this Daisy? She played 200+ VFLW games and was a 10 x premiership player too.
Yet Gary Ablett Snr only had to wait four years before he was put up, and he was literally responsible for the death of a person by providing them drugs.
If we’re talking like for like, Silvagni and Scarlett are in the HOF.
Funnily enough after the HOF I was asking my wife why Dustin Fletcher hadn’t yet made the HOF…she went harder and said that 2000 Premiership was generational and not nearly enough players from that side are HOFers…
Joining the Darebin Falcons at age 16, she played just shy of 200 VWFL/VFLW games across 12 years, winning five club best and fairest awards, six Helen Lambert Medals (VWFL best and fairest) and 10 premierships. She also won the inaugural VFLW best and fairest award in 2016, before it was renamed in her honour in 2018.
Not her fault AFLW seasons have been paltry things.
Fletch would make it into the tribunal hall of fame, though.
You’re tripping.
Fletch is GOAT. He doesn’t need their hall of fame, he has his own.
Because that’s exactly what it is.
Nebraska recently signed a punter from Melbourne named Archie Wilson, through Prokick. He’d been playing footy at VAFA level with Old Carey U19s in Bulleen.
Neb has a new special teams coordinator and he specifically sought out an Aussie punter.
His competition for the starting job will be the offspring of former longtime NFL punter Sam Koch.
Not nearly enough of the players from that team even made AA that year.
I should check but I think even Fat Lance was in there.
Far out, I just looked it up. 4 Essendon players (Hardwick, Fletcher, Hird, Lloyd). 5 Carlton, 3 Adelaide, Carey as captain in spite his team being beaten by 115 points in week 1 of the finals.
I’m officially outraged. It felt at the time (especially when Woewodin won the Brownlow) that the players in that team were not given the plaudits they deserved, but in hindsight they should have had 12 all Australian players that year.
