IN: Supporters who understand that 12 of our best 22 are missing in 2016
OUT: Most of the dickheads on this forum
Cheers
So essentially what you’re telling the blokes who are on our list next year is
If we don’t have our best team out on the park, you don’t have to turn up to play.
maybe you would be best to remember we copped plently of similar beltings like today over the last 5 odd years and it has SFA to do with “12” players missing, and all to do with EFFORT.
Effort and a loss brings the reaction around here of last week.
a loss with pretty much 0 effort brings about a reaction of today.
If you’re going to hide behind the " oh there’s 12 out, anything they do is acceptable" line, we may as well pack up the season now and just forfeit every match, cos the 12 players aren’t magically gonna be returning anytime soon, and if you’re willing to accept lack of efforts like today, then you’re only condemning the club to lowering the standard of what is and should be acceptable.
Effort should always be a non negotioable, not something you pull out ONLY when you have your best team on the park.
A game against a fellow bottom 4 team shouldn’t be over after ten minutes… I agree there are a heap of positives this season and I think some of the guys will learn a lot from today but that was weak. seriously weak.
Pies didn’t even have to earn it for the first 20 minutes… we didn’t lay a single tackle until the 23rd minute of the first qtr and by then we were close to 40 points down… that is some seriously slack work rate there. We were outnumbered at both ends of the ground AND in the middle… that is just pure work rate and we lacked intensity.
I don’t think anyone is suggesting pitchforks at dusk or microwaving memberships… but if we don’t honestly address the serious structural flaws that were exposed today then we will never regain our rightful place at the top of the table.
For the last 15 years we have let too many mediocre players hang around the fringe on the back of 1-2 nice games or glimpses. There is a time and place for endless positivity but there is also a place for an honest assessment of where we sit and what we need to change to move forward.
Our forward is as putrid as last year. And the year before that. And the year before. And...
We may have been crap defensively under Knights, but at least we could score.
Will a coaching panel ever be able to fix our fwd line woes...
Watching it today it really was just the same thing that has happened to us for ever now (shockingly so in the first half). I think certain teams just go into games telling themselves just run hard defensively, pressure, get back in numbers and then run it out fast and link up all the way. The Pies have been one of these sides that love doing this to us. It’s understandable how we weren’t able to make it less effective against us this time but I swear I was saying how sick of this exact same thing I am at least 4 years ago. I swear, if they do us the same way next year… guess I won’t be all that surprised.
First time this year an opposition has put pressure on us and we weren’t good enough to handle it.
No other team has rated us enough to bother but Collingwood had to get back to basics to turn their season around.
Carlton will bring pressure on the ball carrier next week so we’d better be ready for it.

Port did exactly the same thing two weeks ago. And we folded like a pack of cards then too.
Apparently Baguley was on Fasolo.. that is a complete surprise to me as he didn't go near him for most of the first half and was even further away during the second!
Bags is having a very rough year. Is a dead set worry with ball in hand too. Oh well.
Why are some of you comparing our present patched up group, with results from games in the past. Not to mention coaches moves etc. this is a different story now, get a grip. Bunch of hags some of you.
Its clear that every team is going to try and blitz us off the park is the first quarter. The side looked in shock, which is to be expected given they’ve played a handfull together. Stopping a run on like the Pies got requires an organised group, and organisation only comes with consistency and games together.
I am consoled that we’ll get some good recruiting from this years draft position, and development time into the kids.
Agree it was weak but we can address some of the flaws when we get back Heppell Watson Hurley Hooker Hocking Hibberd Colyer etc
Remind me how it went last ANZAC day? Check it for me… I can’t remember if our average score last year was 61 or 62 points…
This attitude of ‘everything will be alright when we get the 12 back’ is seriously flawed. Seriously.
Of the 12, lets not pot them, but from a certain point of view we have 6 stars that can come back, 3 that are now most likely fringe and 3 that are unlikely to get a game.
Will it make a difference? You bet!! Does it address the fact that we last had a genuine shot at the premiership 15 years ago?!! None of the 12 help our forward line flaws. 11 of the 12 are not line breakers. We may not even get all of the 12 back, and of the 6 stars we only have 1 signature so far.
I’m not looking to argue and I do see your point but if we sweep everything under the “just wait till we get the 12 back” rug this year then it won’t help in the long run in my opinion.
Chin up Bomber fans. That sucked but there were still positives. Won the second half, Parish is a gun, another good game into The Langford and Wallla, we’ve got a star in Razz, Hartley was solid. We knew there’d be tough days and that was a tough day. Let’s bounce back against the Scum.
