Match review thread Vs Pies

Positives:

Tippa,bags,hartley, zaka,zerrett , cooney

all gave 100% effort for 4 qtrs

Grimey looked ok when he got the ball

Um…

Negates

Another big crowd, big stage and we failed badly. Again

Game was done and dusted 25min into the first qtr. you could tell within 5min they weren’t switched on

Dempsey- once again comes back into the team and plays poorly- that is now 3 anzac day games in a row he has done that, his first qtr was disgusting, he made so many schoolboy defending errors.

Our midfield- our stoppage work in the middle, kicking to forwards, not running back to help out.

Mckenna needs to go back to the vfl, is he nowhere near AFL ready yet.

Zaka is going to have to learn how to deal with a hard tag, tried his best though

Goddard- the end is coming very very quickly for him

Kelly had his worst game for the club, ditto loony

There was zero intensity to our game today

Gleeson- he tries hard, but the way he is rag dolled in tackles and pushed aside when he tires to tackle is a joke. Hasn’t got any size on him whatsoever, so when defending one on one he is just pushed aside with ease

Joe daniher- squibbed badly in the pocket early in the 2nd qtr. has to start working harder off the ball. I would have no problem at all if they dropped him for smack- needs a kick up the backside

I am 100% certain you didn’t watch the game

I was at the game, and stayed until the final siren.

Yet you think Kelly and Loony were poor.

Watch a replay.

Kelly was really poor in defence, was waaay too loose on his man. Loony had no effect on the game.

I said it was the worst game that they had played for us, i stand by my comment.

I saw us kick a goal where one of our player ran into an open goal…I haven’t seen it in a long long time. Fantasia going forward made a huge difference.

I have been calling him to be played there ever since he got drafted. I was almost convinced by others he is a winger or running back.

Fark that. He is one of that small forward we have been looking for. Play him there for the rest of the year. McKenna had a couple of good touches going into the back line and carried it well.

If McKenna in the backline doesn’t work out, play Edwards there. That is Edwards natural position.

I know Dempsey was disappointing but looking at the positives I thought he was moving very well.
I think he’ll go well once he clears up the rust.

I just hope they put him in spot and leave him there

Loony was our #1 clearance player, which is pretty hilarious. Not his best in the ruck tho, that said I felt like Grundy had been taking UFC lessons off Darren jolly, grappled him all day.

I just don’t understand why we need to waste every ANZAC day blowing out his rust. When do we learn?

Also… I’m not sure it was rust, lazy efforts, bad decisions, very very poor skill errors and a complete and utter lack of interest were also noticeable.

Shredz is not even on Wooshas radar at this stage.

Fantasia is just a good footballer full stop. Absolute highlight of the day along with Hartley for mine.

Loony: 20 touches (12 contested), 9 clearances, 30 hit outs and 4 score involvements.

Does better than Zerrett, Cooney, Bags, Tippa yet you praise them and think he played poor?

He was outstanding today. The second and third efforts were about the only highlights

I can remember Sheeds saying after the Anzac 93 loss that some of the players only had 20 games or less under their belt and would only get better.
???

There were 3 Anzac Day games in 1993, and we weren’t in any of them.

I just want to personally congratulate the Collingwood players on winning the 2016 AFL premiership this afternoon.

Awks …

When I look back on 2016 I'm going to everyone able to say that I went to half a game of football for the whole season.

That was (is) ■■■■■■■ deplorable. So glad they waited until Anzac day to not show any effort.

And it’s the blokes on the actual list who were (are) ■■■■.

Just don’t go then Ross.

Agree to disagree, i thought he had zero impact when the game was on the line, he has been very good this year just wasn’t anything special today

Apparently Baguley was on Fasolo… that is a complete surprise to me as he didn’t go near him for most of the first half and was even further away during the second!

It’s astonishing to me that we lose by 69 points with a mid field that consists of a guy who’s played 5 games and another well under 50, with a ruckman who has basically not played 5 games straight in 4 years, with help from a few guys who lack serious pace and the sky is falling round here. Of course we’re bound to have games where we get completely over ran. What do you seriously expect? And don’t say effort! You need run in you legs to have effort. Teams don’t play the amount of 1st, 2nd and 3rd year players are being forced to for a reason. theu can’t back it up. And we can’t expect the few experienced senior guys we have to continue providing support each week without feeling the pinch. Zaka would be sore and heck after 5 games. He’s become an in and under by force not by choice.

Woosha dos the right thing. Easily could have stacked the game with experienced top up players to bridge the margin but chose for the kids to get a taste of an away game in front of 85k.

Our players learn’t far more than the pies players did today. Shame so many of our supporters don’t get the education they picked up today. We lost by 11 goals without Watson, hooker, hepp, stants, Hurley, heater, Myers, tommy B, colyer and by the sounds of so much crap on here you’d think we’d lost by 20 goals to GWS in their start up year with our 1984 premiership side at our disposal. Get a grip FFS. There’s a lot worse than that coming later In the year when they have no run in their legs and we get a few injuries.

There’s so many positives from this year already

Staring down the barrel of a 20-goal defeat at half-time, but thankfully we played pretty well in the 2nd half even if it was junk time in effect. I was very impressed with Fantasia, he is a lot better than I thought he’d ever be, 25 touches and 2 goals. Hartley held up very well, James Kelly probably our best, Parish to his credit fought manfully in the middle despite us being walloped.

next week is a priority. we have 3 winnable games in 2016. Carlton X2 and Brisbane

Sorry - but it was against Collingwood.

I thought we play the Blues only once this year.
