I got slammed in Zac Merretts thread for saying that he’s defensive works can be bad if you watch those clips and see what he did on all of the clips he was jogging and let players blow past him.
The gulden one especially bad lays the tackle on gulden gulden gets up works he’s arse off to get to the other side of the ground gets the ball back and goal Zac on the other hand stops after the tackle
I hope Brad shows the Gulden clip to the players on Monday you cant let that happen
If you are happy to ball watch and not pick up a bloke that’s speeding passed you then your not in the team.
Said absolutely nothing about it
We all are.
Sometimes it’s ball watching, sometimes it’s just education, they are so worried about positioning and zones sometimes I think they forget about the ■■■■■■■ players they should be blocking or stopping. Next steps for us is giving away professional free kicks to slow play down.
He did make some valid points.
Lyon was able to get the Saints sorted defensively relatively quickly. Our defence isn’t young, there’s a lot of experience there, why is it not improving?
Also said if we’re not seeing improvement after a full preseason of work, it’s unlikely that we’ll see it during the season with less opportunity for training and development.
Okay then, see ya Perkins (whom you mentioned earlier), even though he was BOG last week and serviceable last night !
Had Essendon executed for four quarters with the game on our terms we would have knocked them off.
They didnt and got put to the sword in red time.
I think just outside the 8 is where we belong and we are building
I said the same thing about GWS this time last year.
Our defence wasn’t available, Redmond, Ridley, Reid… but that’s not really the point, it’s the inexperience players and lack of fitness that reduces our effectiveness in defending. I would say we were most vulnerable in the last 5mins of each of the quarters when fatigue set in. I think this is not an intent or coaching but we just don’t have a list that is hardened and fit enough yet.
I think it’s work ethic pure and simple and the guys we have don’t have it defensively, offensively though they work there backsides off to get a goal.
It’s a combination of poor recruiting and no accountability for too long.
I don’t think it will get better any time soon the main men have been doing it so long it’s nearly impossible to get it out of them.
Theres a lot of improving players on our list.
How good is our midfield with genuine big bodies in it? Stringer doesnt cameo any more. Its great.
We need Redman and Ridley back asap.
And we have to get at least a dozen games into Reid.
Perkins and Durham too busy ball watching and Gulden runs straight through both of them how can not one of them turn head to and see hm
edit - Maybe Perkins could be excused Gulden was behind him but Durham mate no excuses he ran right passed you and you didn’t bother to chase him
Maybe we are playing the wrong sport. It seems better suited to basketball.
You could have fletcher and Scarlett in that defense and they wouldn’t be able to stop it because the midfield don’t help stem the flow of ball coming in
Agree
WE JUST GOT IN BEFORE THEM, AND THEY HAVE THE HIDE TO COMPLAIN.
WHAT A PACK OF ■■■■■■■ HYPOCRITS
The one that surprised me in those clips was Nik cox he was sprinting to chase
Inexplicable.
I punched the couch.
They ball watched all the way to the forward line.
