Melbourne Death Ride 2025 - we’re getting the next Andy McGrath

Off the top of my head 1/4 of the team needs to test +ve for the whole team to be penalised.

Also, the SIA site definitely doesn’t list all the current sanctions.
I know of a few people with life bans for multiple infractions and trafficking that I can’t readily find on their website.

edit looks like it’s slightly different and/or been updated for team sports

Don’t recall if the threshold was “two” or “more than two” when Collingwood had the clenbuterol punishment in 2015 (the outcome suggests the latter). Certainly didn’t need a quarter of the team.

The site wouldn’t include Australian athletes in a foreign testing pool and coming under another doping jurisdiction, such as most Australian cyclists based overseas registered to a non-Australian federation. Also, it could exclude + ve tests outside Australia?
The SIA used to claim wins for doping by Australians in which it had no involvement, but seems to have stopped doing that.
There could also be some caught under the whereabouts rule?
Apart from Dank, the current list appears to be limited to athletes testing +ve ( ‘presence’). Possession and trafficking infractions seem to connected to a +ve test.
Aldo Carr was recently sacked by an NRL club for cocaine while driving, but this appears to be unconnected with doping rules.

not enough death riding in here for my liking

These were all in Australia.
Idk if they just didn’t roll them over on the new website.

Yes it’s strange, seeing how old the Dank one was and it’s still included.
Sharpe got a lot of hits for naming Bol and Jack when they were still engaged in the appeal system.
Among the ones you know of, are they still suspended?

1 is indefinite, 1 is suspended until 2026, pretty sure the couple of weightlifters I’m thinking of have life.

I have searched and yet to find a case such as Smith. Match day positive for an illicit drug and later charged for trafficking. I find it impossible to believe no-one else fits under this criteria. Is this another case of SIA making it up like in the EFC34 case.

And was at Essendon through the Saga

Yep, recommended a couple of troubling things, got off scotfree
Gets a free pass, then coach of Melb, afl help, and wonder upon wonder an …overlooked…drug situation at new position.

Is this the Melbourne Death Ride thread or Sorry Saga thread?

Aren’t we just supposed to enjoy a view of a team in a flat spin that isn’t Essendon?

We barrack for two teams in 2025.

Three.

Essendon, whoever is playing Melbourne, and whoever is playing FARK CARLTON.

When Melbourne play FARK CARLTON, it’s going to be a debate. Personally, willing to let Melbourne get 4 or 8 points next season to FARK CARLTON, but others could differ.

Yes no debate. Carlton can lose all year long.

Four.

Don’t forget the Orange Tsunami. Blitzers second favorite team.

My second team is still Fitzroy. Mind you, they haven’t added that much interest to a weekend since 1996 (and to be honest, not that much for a couple of seasons before that).

And none of this carried over to the Bears, fark them.

On a completely unrelated topic: LANCE FRANKLIN.

So Bartlett investigated drug taking allegations at the club, including made against Goodwin. Nothing found. Sounds to me like if there were no allegations proved against Goodwin he would have a good case to sue for reputational damage. Yet here we are with a settlement out of court. Something sounds dodgy to me. Dess must have got a bigger broom to sweep things under the carpet.
