And I believe it’s actually “wallowing in the quagmire of mediocrity” (giggity)
I’m guessing they looked at the number of people streaming it in past years (not many) and decided it wasn’t worth it.

I am sure Tanner is very happy to be surrounded by back slapping sycophantic supporters. I would suggest that the mark of a true leader is the one who stands up to be counted when the proverbial hits the fan. He was a very ordinary politician and he hasn’t improved in his role as our president.
His response to the subject matter of Mick Warner’s article was inaccurate and ill-informed. It appears that he and David Sharpe are singing from the same hymn book.

I’m starting to think that the Board deliberately chose now, for DE life membership. It was a chess move…
They wanted to recognise Little - worthy recipient. But if they didn’t recognise his predecessor, that would create more internal issues and potential media crap. So, as DE has probably given (or promised) heaps of dollars to the Hangar upgrade, still actively involved in the lives of a few players from the 34 and probably active behind the scenes politically, it was a ‘good’ time to do it.
They probably anticipated a backlash but it won’t last in the minds of most club members/supporters and the media. The storm blows over and no more questions are asked about Life Membership for former Board Presidents and importantly, Little gets recognised as he should.

Additionally I think it was no coincidence that Evans was unavailable on Thursday night. Whether OS or not they would not have wanted to risk a public backlash at the AGM and Forum.
It will be presented at a safe pre-match luncheon where the crowd is sanitized compared to at the AGM.
No doubt money is the the key to the thinking of these people. Even Tanner when asked at the AGM about the 34 went completely off track rambling on about how much it had cost Essendon to pay the players off.
Doesn’t matter about their reputation, it been replaced by a tidy sum of money and they should be happy.

There was something not quite right with Tanner at the AGM. Very flat in his report/tone, disinterested at best, hostile/arrogant at worst (at various times), confused with his speech/report (then blamed JRod) and looked like a person who wanted to be anywhere else (even at the very beginning of the AGM).
