it certainly is stupid to attribute your own outrage onto something that doesn’t affect you in any way at all
I was at the coffee shop earlier and this man smiled at me. I noticed he was wearing a Fark Carlton cap so I gave him a dirty look.
Merry Christmas again and Fark Carlton.
I’m not outraged by it, but it’s certainly weird - ok, it’s complete nonsense- to avoid mentioning Christmas in the alleged aim of inclusivity. FFS, it actually IS Christmas so just wish everyone a Merry one, or Happy one or whatever.
Just like it’s completely divisive nonsense to avoid the Indigenous flag in the name of “unity” politically.
We’ve lost the friggin plot on all this stuff.
it’s only weird if you’re assuming the club has deliberately chosen to not mention Xmas to not offend some unknown group of people, as opposed to just a generic message saying happy holidays?
But that’s exactly what happened. Stop trying to gaslight people.
in reality though you have no idea, you’re just getting upset for nothing
the club isn’t obligated to mention Christmas, that’s silly
I think it takes an active decision to move from the norm, tbh. I’d never say “happy holidays” , it’s just not something I’d reach for unless I’m mindful of something.
Edit - and I’m talking generically, not aimed at the Club specifically.
But whatever.
Merry Christmas to all, and now Happy New Year for a few days time.
Exactly.
They could’ve just said Merry Christmas because I don’t know… it’s Christmas and everyone would’ve got on with their lives. But no EFC keeps throwing up PR soft balls.
Of course they’re not obliged to. But it is Christmas… so it seems kinda dumb not to.
And I didn’t see an outcry or people saying they’re offended. It’s just weird.
I’m sure you’ll survive until Jan 26 when the club inevitably makes another social media post that you can complain about
Our local Indian restaurant posts Merry Christmas at Christmas and Happy Diwali at Diwali. No-one is offended at either.
You do realise this ■■■■ is done by the work experience kid/ social media intern, which they probably have had 20 of since 2021?
The poor kid has probably just said happy holiday because that’s what people say from time to time.
I don’t think they wanted to start a culture war.
If this is the ■■■■ that people actually worry about, or of people are worried that other people worry about something. Christ do they have it fkg easy.
lol who’s attributing their own outrage now.
that doesn’t really make sense but good one I guess
try and enjoy your day
Stop gaslighting. There is no social media kid. This is done by our clubs social media team in advance and is scheduled to post on Christmas Day. No one physically posts it on Christmas Day.
You know how they could’ve avoided a culture way… by just saying Merry Christmas like the vast majority of Australians do.
There isn’t?
ok next agm we should propose a constitutional amendment that forces the club to post merry christmas every december 25th
