Be nice if you could roll the dice on your NGA players and take them mid season. A free hit, if you think they’re any good, take your chance and select them and use your mid season pick.
That would mean a club like the Dogs could have picked JUH without having to pay up any draft capital. It’s a good system that players need to pass through a National Draft first before clubs can have access to them.
What they should make is NGA players still available up to 2 years post draft.
so say Foley isn’t ready at 18, we can list him as a Cat B at 19 or 20 while he develops in the VFL side.
I would definitely be looking for good back pockets from state leagues. Players who can lock down an opposition forward and aren’t terrible at interception or disposal. Bags, Hibberd, Puopolo, Saad all came from state leagues, so they’re out there.
